I've looked through the stickies and tried searching, but failed.

Just use IrfanView or something. File > Save As. Simple as that.

I like gimp or paint.net(but paint.net can't do animated .gif files), in windows paint you can save an image as a .png,
I'm going to check out that irfanview as well, it looks kinda cool

I think he means a transparent PNG images like this ( Being able to have transparent edges and stuff)

I normally use PhotoShop CS2 v9 for my tag making. I'm sure a GIF supports transparency aswell.

Gimp should work though I don't personally like Gimp...

Photoshop 7
Photoshop CS2
Photoshop CS3

Are all really nice... though you have to buy them or ofcource there is Adobe FTP where you can find the demos...

I use MSpaint to draw my pictures, and then Gimp to make them transparent... I don't like Gimp's drawing interface. (Mostly because there is no straight line tool)

The regular paint which comes with Windows XP can save in .png too
