This is a review For The Nintendo DS emulator released a few days ago by a Japanese coder (I forget the name) for those who just can't be asked to try it themselves to can't get hold of it
I will not give links to ROMs or BIOS's or give any help to get this emulator working since it its totally against QJ Rules ETC. THIS IS JUST A REVIEW
+ Dont ask were to get ROM's or BIOS's, no one will tell you and you'll just get this thread locked
Ok Lets begin.
The emulator has a very small range of support for roms only about 1 in 20will actually boot (probably less than that) most will give a blank screen and nothing more. I have got some roms to boot, the most stable being Zoo Keeper. I have found that the smaller the ROM in size the more likely it will boot.
The FPS for all roms that will boot is incredibly slow about 1 frame per second so dont expect to be playing any games on this emulator at all (Its just a Proof of Concept) Nothing much more to say here except its like super-slowmotion gone crazy.
The controls dont actually funtion at all, none of the buttons on the PSP work as an input on the emulator (Remember this is just POC) I could see how the PSP could be mapped to the DS, with the nub being mapped to control the Stylus and another button to Push down, But this will come in later versions if ever.
The actual emulator is very basic, there is no ROM selection screen (you can only have one rom at a time on the emulator, this having a certain name) and it will boot this rom on start-up. There is no in-game menu either, but this isn't suprising since none of the buttons respond anyway.
There is sound on the emulator but not suprisingly its terrible, this in my opinion was a bad idea since it slows down framerate... The Renderd screen size is about 3/4 of the PSP's screen, this is both DS screens put on top each other and the screens are displayed side-ways (see screenies below)
Basicly dont bother, I only tried it out of curiosity. This is ony a POC and the framerate is terrible so is the sound and the controls dont even funtion. But the guy who coded this emulator (a port of the DeSmuME DS emulator for PC) has done what was once thought impossible. Something might be able to come from this if were lucky considering this is quite a promising start.
+ Ill upload more screenies of other games if this review has any intrest or they are requested.
