I am making this thread so we all can try and keep all comments, concerns, ideas, developments, and products, ect... on getting xternal storage for our PSP's.
Note: If this isn't the right catagory to post this in I apoligize.
The Ovious: We all need more space for all out videos, songs, pictures, homebrew ect... and MS are way to $expensive$.
What we know: There a few devices out there that we could use to simulate the xternal process:
USB HDD with OTG= (on the go)
USB OTG Bridges
converters that let u use regular MS sticks instead of PRO DUO's Like this
and what ever Team Xecuter has up their sleave
We also know that we can't just connect a xternal HDD to the PSP via an adapter.
One device I have seen is the crown X( i saw a post on it here some whare) that u connect the crown to the PSP and go into USB mode and xfer your files to the mem card on the PSP. This looks cool, and i have done some research, however this device cost quite a bit, I belive it was 299 for a 20 gig one. For me this seems kind of steep.
I have also have seen lots of xternal HD's with OTG with built in card readers but from the product decriptions they only go one way( suck the data off your card then clean it) which woulden't work.
USB OTG bridges(connect 2 USB devices to the bridge and transfer one device to the other), these seem to have a posiblity. But from the ones i have seen there is no way to know what your copying, it is just i direct xfer.
IF anyone has found a bridge with an LCD display that will do file mgt. functions please post links.
The ms converter posted from this thread. this is kind of cool but it still carrys a heafty price tag if you doun't already own other MS cards. and you lose alittle bit of the sleak portableness of the PSP.
I have no idea what Team Xecuter is making, but form what little titbits of information i can find, it is some USB connector linked to a PRO DUO lookalike ( what i think their doing is taking the above MS converter and using the card ribbon cable assemply and sodering it to a female USB port).
this would be cool, but what concerns me is you would now have this xternal device hanging off your PSP tharefore losing it's sexyness and how would you power this external device? The USB port on a pc provides 5 volts the psp uses 3.6 i think(correct me if i am wrong. With that said whare you going to get the power, now your losing the portability.
What I Found:
TheApacer share steno This device seems like it will work for us. From the decription info i can gather you can connect your PSP or a card reader and transfer your files to your MS PRO DUO card. from what i understand this device lets you slect which files to be xfered to and frow the connected USB device.
Note: I am not trying to sell this device this it's just my option.
Yes i understand that this would require you to have a decent size MS card (1gb max maybe) but it would certainly be a portable option and you wouldent have all sorts of stuff hanging off your PSP. It also has a reasonable price tag for 20gb
Need some help researching:
I have also found this divice called QCool it really looks neat cause it has a card reader built into it, however it is only an enclouser so you would have to get a 2.5" HD. This may cost alittle more. However i thisk that this device only sucks data off you cards, but i haven't confermed this yet.
I haven't been able to research this but if some 1 would do it is be apreciated.
I apoligize that some of this has been posted before, I am just trying to put all this information in one centrail thread.
So please post all your comments, concerns, ideas, developments, and products, ect...
