If you are asking what tools to use, give up now. You wont have the skill to use them, and in a year you wouldn't. C++ is a hard language.

You can't get source code from a compiled binary. Use a hex editor to mess around with it

The update that the wab team decryted has a elf file and a readme which says:

You can now work on a downgrader 1.51 & 1.52 from the decrypted elf
updater 1.50.

you can get many info and prx like PSAR.prx embeded on the elf the
version.txt for the updater embeded in the elf too many good info .
