Default Please help! PSPR 80020148 problem

Greetings.

My version is 3.71 M33-2 and I've been pondering over the problem of not being able to start the PSPRevolution homebrewed game.

I've put the both files (PSPR and PSPR% from 1.5 folder) into the GAME150, and tried with kernel set to 1.5 and also 3.71 (i believe there are only two, and the figure might be off slightly) and yet both gave me the same problem of "The game could not be started (80020148)".

I have also attempted to put the files into GAME and GAME371, but to no avail. When i put into GAME, the problem is (8002014C).

Hours and hours of research had left me nothing. I have also tried several desperate attempts like adding KEYS.BIN into both folders, but still am fruitless.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Regards,
Leon

Edit: when i put in GAME, the problem is 80020148
Edit Edit: When i highlight the PSPR and choose the option "information", the file size was 224kb! but when i checked it in my psp folder through the computer, it is around 20mb. any clue? and yes, my GAME150 file is X\PSP\GAME150.

it says 224kb because it is looking at the EBOOT size, not the folder size. Make sure you installed 1.5 kernel v2

Yes, I'm positive that this is your problem. Getting error 8002014C means that it's trying to use the 3.71 kernel to run a piece of 1.50-only homebrew. You'll need to download the 1.50 kernel add-on. Just copy the "UPDATE" folder to \PSP\GAME , then download the 1.50 firmware update, rename it to "150.PBP", and put it in the root of your memory stick (e.g. X:\).

i believe i do have kernel 1.5 plugin, jaymes. but when i bought my psp, it has already been modified. however, i could play psx games on my psp (ff7), i dunno if that proves that i have. how do i check to ensure, though?

-= Double Post =-
oops sorry freeplay, i didnt see ur comment when i was writing the previous one. i'm trying it now (:

Edit: Upon changing my kernel to 3.71 in recov. mode, and doing all the steps FreePlay suggested (ie putting the UPDATE folder into PSP\GAME\UPDATE) and also renaming the downloaded file to 150.PBP, (i also put the PSPRevolution (the homebrew game) to GAME150) I still get the problem of "The game could not be started (80020148)" while i'll get the problem of "The game could not be started (8002014C)" if my PSPR and PSPR% is inside the GAME folder.

anyway, i really appreciate your help (: thank you so much.

EditEdit: I didnt know i must click the updater named "PSP Update ver 1.50"... anyway, after i clicked it, there is a message saying "This program only for the standard PSP".. sigh

any clue? thanks (;

Did you actually... *install* the 1.50 kernel, or just put the installer on your memory stick? You have to run the installer, not just put it on the MS :/

hmm.. firstly i would really like to thank FreePlay for the much help ur trying to render this noob (:

Okay. Freeplay, if the warning said that it is only for normal PSP, does it mean that i already have the file? or must i do certain settings? what do they actually mean by "normal PSP*"?

In addition, for the two files in the link, I just open PSPR_v03.rar first, extract the files, then open PSPR_0.3_to_0.3a_PATCH.ra r, extract the files, merge the folders with the same name together and replace everything that has its name clashed right?

and then, there would be three folders altogether, namely 1.0, 1.0_EBOOT_ONLY and 1.5. Inside the folder 1.5, there are two files, namely PSPR and PSPR%, right? so I just put them in X\PSP\GAME150 folder?

And then, in my recovery settings, what kernel should i set it to? 3.71 or 1.5? do i have any other special things need to be changed?

im really longing for this game (: once again, i thank you for trying yourbest to help this newer member in PSP community (;

EDIT: if u dont mind, would you please write down here the settings of ur PSP in the recov. mode? (if this affects?)
EDITEDIT: i meant "Standard PSP*". Also, is there any information i need to add to aid in rectifying the problem?
EditEditEdit: After doing the steps i wrote above, I got the error coded "80020148"
EditEditEditEdit (wow i revised this post so many times xD): perhaps you may want me to try to install some other things that has the same pre-requisite as PSPRevolution, just to see what is actually wrong.

The Slim PSP cannot use the 1.50 kernel.

Just use the PSP Revolution files I linked above and you'll be set

I have a Slim and the 1.50 eboot didn't work because Slim doesn't support 1.50 kernel but there's another solution use the 1.0 eboot version it works perfectly fine it never gave me a problem I'm running PSPR v0.3a in my Slim try that and it should work put it in the GAME or GAME371 folder I just leave it in the GAME folder since I keep my kernel running on 3.71 at all times
