Default [Guide] Furikup Setup and SIP Provider List

This program allows you to use your PSP as a phone, using Voice-over-IP (VoIP) technology. We got a bit bored waiting for Sony to release their PSP phone offering, so we thought we'd do it for them. Such is the freedom of homebrew.

You can use your PSP to make and receive calls to and from other PSPs, or to other VoIP users, or even to standard landline and mobile telephones, depending upon the VoIP service that you use. Calls are generally free, or at least cheaper than standard landline rates - again, depending upon your VoIP provider.

This is an initial release, currently supporting audio-only calls, and with a very basic user interface. But it works, and that's the main thing.

The VoIP engine is implemented as a standalone PRX, with a well-defined interface. As well as using our simple phone application, we encourage other developers to make use of this technology for other applications. We're sure that someone can write a nicer user interface than ours, so please do. There's also scope for plenty of other uses - such as a CFW plugin for calls within the XMB, or teamtalk-style add-ons for games etc. Go wild!

- Readme File

Main Setup

First, get an account with a SIP provider listed above.

Works on PHAT 3.71 M33-2

PSP is Custom FW 3.71 M33-2
Kernel set to 3.71
App placed in GAME folder

WILL ALSO WORK if:
Kernel set to 1.50
App placed in GAME371 folder

Thanks Dartan!

Edit the sipcfg.ini in the psp/game/furikup folder.. Replace its contents with one of the configuration codes above in the list.

For the input, put these:

usbcam - use the Go!Cam (Chotto Shot) camera microphone
usbmic - use the Talkman USB microphone
headset - use a SOCOM-style headset (There are plenty of tutorials on the internet showing how to make your own, e.g. here).
file - read audio from a WAV file. This file must be called audio.wav, with format 44.1kHz, 16-bit mono, and placed in the Furikup folder.

Download:

noobz.eu Download Link (v0.1)

QJ.net Download Link (v0.1)

Thanks CoBrA2168

Contacts Setup

Edit contacts.txt.

Landline Contact Code
Code:
Home,sip:1areacodephonenumber@sip.VoipCheap.com,FirstName,LastName
Where VoipCheap.com is replace it with the provider you are using. If it's SIPphone then make it sip.sipphone.com.
I used VoipCheap as the example because it needs to be capitalized like it is shown. (confirm?)

SIP Contact Code
Code:
nickname,sip:number@sip.VoipCheap.com,firstname,lastname
The sip.VoipCheap.com should be changed to whatever provider your friend is using. (confirm?)

SIP Provider List

#1 http://voipcheap.com

Pros:
  • Works in USA, Canada, and more.
  • Free calling to regular phones (300 minutes, but after you run out you can make a new account)
  • No activation required
  • You can get a real number for only $2 (or $4?) depending on where you live.

Cons:
  • No where to find out your SIP #?
  • Real numbers available for registration are hard to get, due to limited amount in your area
  • Need to activate your account using your cell phone to get caller ID set on to your number

You can either download the app to your PC to set-up an account or THANKS to .A.J's find you can click the MAC Linux link and register from the website without downloading the app!

Thanks to Dartan for that!

FYI: If you're willing to shell out $40 you can buy a server for your PC that translates SIP calls to Skype calls. The software's page is here.

Missed one more con for voip cheap, no calls over 1 minute without a real number.

You should also put Setup before the list of Providers, and add an adding contacts section..

Not really since Landline typically refers to all regular phones. I guess if your not used to the jargon it would be easier to understand if it said something like no calls to regular phones/cellphones though.

Next to impossible to set up and you still need a service for dialing to landlines.

Still NOT true - Cause I did it again today. and I have not added any form of payment to my account .... have you tried it?

This is with VoipCheap that I'm talking about

Wait the original post stated "without a real number" what does that mean? Cause I MEAN I used VoipCheap with my PSP to call my cell phone on two different days for calls over 2 mins each and I do NOT have a VoipCheap # just my user name

I'm not sure about CANADA - but for the USA our phone numbers are set up like this:

area code (3 digits) phone number (7 digits) = 8885551212

but when calling long distance or out of your local area you add a 1 to the front of the whole thing = 18885551212

Maybe you can try adding a country code?

1 is for international like US/Canada and the 250 is my area code.

That is not my number, I wouldn't post my number here haha. I put mine in the same format and it worked. I called my house.

Make sure it looks like that, no spaces. Also make sure you're using VoipCheap on your PSP and not something like Sipphone.
