Unhappy A little confused...

Ok, so I'm reading all these threads and about downgrading to 1.5 and this pandora's battery and what not and confused on what I would actually need... As far as I know if I want to play roms or downloaded games all I need is 1.5 firmware. So what is the use of the pandora's battery other than unbricking? I've also been reading about upgrading after downgrading... if you upgrade can you still play roms and iso's? Sorry for the newb question, but I'm reading all these guides and get lost...

The pandora battery helps with bricked PSP's as you said and also with the installation of of firmwares for the Slims. Also it can help with the immediate upgrade to 3.80 M33 instead of going 1.50 -> 3.52 M33 -> 3.52-4 M33 -> 3.XX M33 and just make life simplier. Now ISN"T THAT GREAT!

Depending on the firmware you have, you may or may not need a Pandora battery. You can check the firmware you have by going to system, system settings, then system info.

But why do you upgrade to those 3.xx firmwares? I thought 1.5 was the desired firmware everyone wants for roms and isos?

It's *CUSTOM* firmware, not official. It's HOMEBREW we want, not piracy.

Homebrew = Something made for absolutely no money and for just fun... without using anything illegal in it's creation(such as an original character sprite of mario from 'mario brothers' or snake from 'metal gear solid').... a wiki quote:

Wikipedia Definition of Homebrew
Homebrew is a term frequently applied only to video games that are produced by consumers on proprietary game platforms; in other words, game platforms that are not typically user-programmable, or use proprietary hardware for storage. Sometimes games developed on official development kits, such as Net Yaroze or PS2 Linux, are included in the definition. Some of these typically go under more frequently used labels, such as freeware.

Roms/ISOs/any other Disc Image = Illegal... unless you own, and have the original, and you have to have bought it also.

But we can't talk any thing else about ISO activity on these forums.

In the USA, it's STILL illegal if you own it.

It's illegal to make a backup of something you purchased in the US? That's BS... you paid for it, you should be able to back it up.

I see... that makes absolutely no sense... but that's capitalistic US for you... if your copy is messed up you can't use the back up you made so you must go out and buy another if you want to use it again legally >.<;

Ohhh, I thought that if you buy a music CD or something like that, if it's scratched, then you can just back it up once or twice, I've done that with a PC game because it was heavily scratched, but I guess it can be considered illegal... thanks for the info myself, FreePlay.

I guess so... just waste your cd's/dvd's for a useless coaster >.<;

K, a lil more back on subject... I have a silver psp slim... I can't see the mobo so I can't see if there are any numbers on it. It's 3.80 firmware, what do I need to mod it? A pandora's battery?

all slims have a TA-085 motherboard. to mod it, you need a pandora battery and despertar del cementerio installed on a magic memory stick.

What is a magic memory stick? Is it a hacked/modded memory stick?

its a memory stick that is used in conjunction with pandora. You either have to make it on a CFW psp or obtain the files pre-made. however, we can't link to them as it is illegal to distribute them.

Ohhhhh ok, thanks for all the help~

I'm sorry, one more question, once you make the pandora battery, can you just keep using it like a normal battery? Or do you have to buy a new one to use for regular daily use? Thanks~

you can convert the battery back to a normal one to use daily but once you convert it back, you have to make it again.....
