Default Downgrading 4.01 M33

I recently upgraded to 4.01 M33 CFW and now I can't use sleep mode in homebrew and it corrupted my Crisis Core saves. Is it possible to downgrade to an earlier CFW or am I stuck with this?

Same thing happened to me, upgraded to 4.01, Crisis Core files corrupted

What should I try, Pandora or Time Machine? And what would these do to my PSP and files?

IIRC once the game saves are corrupted they always are. If you want to downgrade, use Pandora following the guide, but don't expect the problem to be fixed.

Okay, doesn't sound good

But how could the upgrade corrupt the file, when the save file was on another memory stick than the one I used when I upgraded?

That I have no idea. Try a save of off gamefaqs and see if it still corrupts.

Will do

And if that doesn't work, and the Pandora doesn't work... I'll probably start Crisis Core all over again Mixed feelings there.

Well, I got the game last week, so can't say I'd come pretty far, but: Had played for nearly 12 hours, and Zack was in lvl 25. Can't really remember where I was in the story, had been doing side missions for hours, but I think I was going to help Aerith with a wagon for her flowers.

Depends on the firmware you were using before. It happens sometimes when you change firmware the old saves cant be read, not sure why. The saves themselves are probably fine its just the psp reading them thats the issue.

As a tip ALWAYS BACK UP ALL OF YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU UPGRADE! Crisis core saves will be corrupt and you will have to restart unless there is something I don't know about. All you have to do to back up your files is plug your USB into the com and just copy paste the psp file to where you want in your com. If you need it just re copy paste and that always works for me!

I was on 3.40 OE-A, don't know if that matters...

Well, yeah, seems to be a smart and easy thing to back-up, and will definately do it from now on, but I wasn't aware that upgrading could corrupt my files

From being 3.40-A to then updating to 4.01m33 sounds like its the psp that cant read them. And with the saves on another stick when you updated your saves should be ok. I wonder if theres a save editing program that allows you to change values so it works on the newer firmware?

You COULD try pandora'ing back to 3.40-A and then using savedeemer; if it can work on that firmware, get the unencrypted save and try using that on 4.01m33.

That's what I was thinking too, that they should be ok since they were on another stick. Hopefully, launching 3.40 with a Pandora's battery will make the files work... I'm unable to try now though, having lost my 1 gb memstick I only have a 32mb stick with all my save files on left...

It does.

FF7:CC is officially intended to run on 3.90+. If you run a game on a firmware lower than its intended version, your savedata will be corrupted when you upgrade. I have no idea why, but this has been the most consistent reason I've seen on these forums.
