Default Rumoured: Myst 1 on PSP?

I heard in an IRC chat that someone was trying to port Myst 1 to the PSP.
Something along the lines of making an ISO file of the original myst CD game and then running that from a loader.

Is there any truth to this rumour?
Is it even possible?
Anyone else think it would be awsome!? (Or am I the only Myst 1 fan here ;_; )

i'm not sure if thats possible. The origional Myst had like 9000 images as the game. But if would be pretty cool to see it happen, I hope they dont run into any trouble with the myst producers, cause they are still making the series.

Yeah same here I'd love to see it happen but once again this is a rumour I'm trying to get substantuated so don't take what I posted as truth becaue honestly I don't know myself.

I think it would be possible, the game itself ISO'd is about 500meg so it'll fit ok and most of it are still images and it's designed to run on a 486, so i guess anything's possible.

Myst 1 is not open source, so it can not be ported...

Wookie: This wouldn't be a port... windows has been "ported" is it open source? Are PSP games that are pirated open source?

Also, a recoding of a simple game isn't that hard. Might not be exactly the same, but still, just because something isn't open source does not mean that it can not be produced for the PSP.

you sir, are an idiot

windows has NOT been ported, it is running under an x86 emulator
psp games dont have to be ported, they are already compiled for the psp

myst took the producers 2 years to produce, it uses quicktime for all its videos and pictures

porting myst would be too difficult to do unless you had the source for quicktime and the source to the original myst engine.

you of all people should already know this...

While I do agree, trying to get Myst on your PSP is going to be an effort not worth it, you apparently did not read his post.

If you noticed, he clearly put "ported", implying that it was not really ported but emulated. Maybe you thought he just used them by mistake? What he is claiming was that there might be a way to do it in a similar fashion, not rewriting Windows, but setting up conditions condusive for the game. The only way I could see this would be to port Quicktime and the engine, but I'm no expert in coding or deving.
