Default PSPlexiglass - PSP Hardware Development Board

Hey QJ, I thought I would join to show you all my PSP Modification.

I dissassembled a PSP, Screwed down the Motherboard, wifi board and a Hacked Up LCD Cage onto an A3 sheet of plexi. Then I proceeded to piggyback the following control points:
DPAD
Power Switch
Hold Switch
X circle, Triangle, Square
Wifi Switch
MSPD
Serial Port
Backlight
Analog Stick
LCD
Triggers
USB
And I think There were some other Things, That I cannot remember at the moment.

Anyway Onto the Pictures:

The PSP LCD Using a Custom PCB and FPCS:

The Main Board:

Now, Why is there no umd drive? How is it controlled I hear you say?

Well The main controlling is done via a Modified PS2 controller, that Plugs in VIA the DSUB 25 pin connector, but also due to the boards plug and play nature, I could make an array of tactile switches to control it if the need arises. And for the UMD Drive, I could implement it if It becomes completely necessary, but at the moment I am happy playing games from my memory stick.

I spent alot of time on this project, and literally Blood sweat and Tears, So please tell me what you think.

This will be for sale in the near future as I need the funds for my new cnc machine build.

Blizzrad for helping.

What you've done is interesting and very advanced I might add but what are you planning on doing with it?

The dpad one was made with the ribbon from a Broken LCD Screen, Which I now have several of, the FPC was bought from farnell, but bear in mind you need the passthrough PCB for it to work.

Flexible Printed Circuit

I will dig you out a part number in a little while.

What do you plan on using for?

Do you want a 40 pin one?

The one shown at the top is around 21 cm, and it cost me £5 (farnell Minimum order is £20 when paying with a CC) But the one I used in the actual end product is 152 mm , and only cost me £1.80, If you don't want to order £20 worth of parts, I have a couple spare I could hook you up with if you want.

Bear in mind the Molex one I am using on one side has top contact pins, and on the other end they are bottom contact, but didnt seem to be a problem since My zifs are nice and sturdy.

What im planning on is to extend the lcd screen out of my psp and sort of make a car mounted PSP. have the screen in a holder and mount the psp into a tiny custom case. I'd like the monitor ribbon to be into a normal cable but a ribbon would be ok if i hid it well enough.

Awesome, well I think you would need a custom PCB to extend the LCD cable into an FPC, Unless you want to just cut the connector off of an LCD and solder back on with long lengths of wire.

I could help you if you want, I cannot make a guide with any pictures detailing what I did, I only have these pictures and some which were of it in an older state. YesI can help you with the ribbons, Can you tell me the Pins on the connector? Note there are two for the umd drive. I do have these written down..somewhere.
For the external umd drive, there minght not be enough amps to be able to extend such a long way out with a ribbon cable, but I could be wrong.

Also, IF you want to buy it I Wouldn't mind selling it to you.

Nice. Breadboards and everything.
I'd love something like that but could never bring myself to disassemble a PSP for it.

This is amazing. Instead of selling it, you should send it to the Museum of Modern Art here in New York.
