Default PSP 3000 hacked??!?

hey guys! check this out. datel's supposedly hacked the psp 3000 already! but it comes with a price. US$ 19.99 (UK) and US$ 29.99 (NA), specifically.

in what can only be described as ironic, Datel hacks something by itself FOR the homebrew community. discuss.

oh, you can check out the news post on the QJ front page. would've posted the link here, but apparently, i can't do that yet. o_O

This looks somewhat legit...

Why haven't Sony sewed these people yet? They're hacking for profit.

Sony have better things to do than sue every company that's doing that.

Moreover, reverse engineering is legal (or at least grey) in most countries of the world, as long as there is no copyright infringement (which there is in most cases, but it's difficult to prove it, and the law says you're innocent unless proven guilty...)

I still doubt Datel came up with the solution by themselves... it doesn't match what they've been doing in the last years...

If this is true, I think they might have felt bad for jipping ideas(and felt lack of moolah). Nevertheless, if they did find this on their own, much kudos to them, because it is only them who have the ability to widely distribute this battery.

I've just checked all I can on the usual sites and don't understand why anyone thinks this means the 3k has been hacked. It says you'll be able to toggle between service and normal mode - Do you think DX would announce this without some kind of proof... I'm gonna wait and see

What on earth are you talking about??

It's legit. The problem is that it does nothing to get around the pre-IPL problem.

so will we be able to reverse engineer it so we can put it on our own batteries, instead of buying, cuz I really dont feel like buying something when most of the homebrew community decides to be free, or unless stores start carrying it.

well, heres what dark alex has to say about this

About new D@tel Battery
You might have seen a new Battery that has come into the market, as always with a price and with a good advertising program...

Well, this post is just to answer some mails that i've recieved.

1. To have a LED indicator ON, doesn't means that you can install cfw or hack anything. Remember 088v3 mobos? Right.
2. It's spreading like a timebomb that it can be hacked and so on. Well, what any user can see is an interesting campaign to promote an article that is not yet released. It would be interesting to see.. how about an old "hello world" like on Noobz time, instead of a "buy today" call?
3. Just to remember all this things up, LED indicator ON and nothing on screen means directly what Dark_AleX explained here about the preIPL.

Would be an interesting step, indeed, in case that the protection on 3k would be sort of a signal encryption or a change of protocol instead of just a change of the battery pin communication system; so, until more proofs come into play, i would not definetly go in a rush to buy it xD.

From the site under your name:

"As skeptics rightfully point out, there is no solid proof that Datel has actually managed to hack anything. As with the first revision of the TA-088 motherboard, the fact that a green LED turns on, does not mean homebrew code or custom firmware can be installed. File this one under wait and see."

Guess I'm a skeptic

he says dont buy one yet because there is no information, Datel told Maxconsole that they will be selling these batteries that can make the 3000 hackable and pretty much nothing else.

but this better work.
