hey guys! check this out. datel's supposedly hacked the psp 3000 already! but it comes with a price. US$ 19.99 (UK) and US$ 29.99 (NA), specifically.
in what can only be described as ironic, Datel hacks something by itself FOR the homebrew community. discuss. ![]() oh, you can check out the news post on the QJ front page. would've posted the link here, but apparently, i can't do that yet. o_O |

Moreover, reverse engineering is legal (or at least grey) in most countries of the world, as long as there is no copyright infringement (which there is in most cases, but it's difficult to prove it, and the law says you're innocent unless proven guilty...) I still doubt Datel came up with the solution by themselves... it doesn't match what they've been doing in the last years... |

If this is true, I think they might have felt bad for jipping ideas(and felt lack of moolah). Nevertheless, if they did find this on their own, much kudos to them, because it is only them who have the ability to widely distribute this battery.

I've just checked all I can on the usual sites and don't understand why anyone thinks this means the 3k has been hacked. It says you'll be able to toggle between service and normal mode - Do you think DX would announce this without some kind of proof... I'm gonna wait and see

so will we be able to reverse engineer it so we can put it on our own batteries, instead of buying, cuz I really dont feel like buying something when most of the homebrew community decides to be free, or unless stores start carrying it.
well, heres what dark alex has to say about this Quote:

"As skeptics rightfully point out, there is no solid proof that Datel has actually managed to hack anything. As with the first revision of the TA-088 motherboard, the fact that a green LED turns on, does not mean homebrew code or custom firmware can be installed. File this one under wait and see." Guess I'm a skeptic |

he says dont buy one yet because there is no information, Datel told Maxconsole that they will be selling these batteries that can make the 3000 hackable and pretty much nothing else.
but this better work. |
