I just got my PSP 3000. help

Hey everyone.

I my old FAT PSP broke. not bricked, but shatterd dunt ask me how .

but anyway, i havnt been on these forums for over a year and i kinda forgot how things worked.

i wanna upgrade/downgrade or whatever its called on my psp 3000 so i can install emulators and going to be able to play games off my memory stick.

please help me and send me links to certain guides that explain how to homebrew the stuff i gotta do.

You must update it to 5.03 and then use the chickHEN and the 5.03 GEN.
But don't flash your 3000 because you will brick it.

To install the chickHEN follow this guide.

Firstly make sure your PSP-3000 or TA88v3 PSP-2000 has PSP Firmware 5.03 installed. Check in your PSP XMB go to Settings/ System Settings / System infomation. If you don’t have PSP 5.03 installed download it here. Create a folder called UPDATE in PSP/GAME on your memory stick and place the eboot from the archive into the folder. Run the 5.03 Firmware update from GAME / Memory stick and you will have 5.03. The firmware required to run ChickHEN.

Now download the ChickHEN R2 release from here. Open the CHickHEN R2 archive and place the folder inside Slim with gif images into your PSP memory stick location like so PSP/PHOTO (later it will be PSP/PHOTO/ChickHEN). Now place the h.bin into the root of your memory stick pro duo. Where the folders PSP, MUSIC etc are located.

Ok next step place the memory stick into the PSP. We have found this step helps ChickHEN boot with less attempts, go your PSP XMB, to settings and Restore Default Settings. Your PSP will reset, now go back into settings and turn off UMD Auto-Start and UMD Cache. We found ChickHEN loads in 2-3 goes after doing this.

Now go into Photo / Memory Stick and ChickHEN. And wait, you will see five egg giff images, these will start to load thumbnails. Your PSP may freeze and reset. Just keep retrying and ChickHEN R2 will load up….But if you see flashing colors, your PSP will reboot into ChickHEN your homebrew ready!

With ChickHEN R2 loaded now starts the fun part. (P.S You can put your PSP into standby now so you don’t have to go through the whole process again)

Now the CFW enabler is only for the slims (2000/3000).
Do not flash CFW because you will brick it

but after i turned off my psp, its version 5.03 again.

Do i have to do this everytime i want to use my psp on this firmware?

Only when you completely turn off your psp if you put it in sleep mode it wont.

Awww crap whenever I try to update to 5.03 the psp reads the 503.PBP as corrupted data. And I don't know if recovery mode has changed in the psp slim bu I have held the power switch up until the psp shuts off and then turn on the psp holding either or both of the triggers and recovery mode still doesn't pop up. I have a hacked PSP Fat but its dying on me so I bought a slim but I was a little too late.

Maybe there was an error during download, redownload the eboot(I recommend from an another server).Also before doing this, try this:
1-You need to rename 503.PBP to EBOOT.PBP, then you need to place it in ms0:PSP/GAME/UPDATE, if there is no UPDATE folder then create one.These steps are sensitive, so do them as told exactly.

P.S: ms0 is your memorystick root.(G:, H:, F:, etc...)

Ah crap I just remembered that I needed the EBOOT.PBP and was going to edit my post but it turns out that I needed to RENAME to EBOOT.PBP. Sorry for all the trouble, thanks.

my psp-3000 has firmware (system software) version 5.51. my question is is this downgradable to the 5.03 required or is 5.03 the minimum version required meaning 5.03 +?

For 5.51. If you have Medal of Honor Heroes, there is a save game hack. I believe there is a working ELoader so you might be able to downgrade anyway.
