Well..this is very nice progress. I believe that this may be one way to getting homebrew on 2.0, but I am almost certain this isn't the ONLY way. Here is to hoping that tonite I will be playing Phantasy Star IV on my 2.0!

Question v1.52

I'm in the UK and deliberately DIDNT update my psp to v2. Does this exploit actually require v2? I'm a bit wary about updating my firmware.

Yes I belive it will require 2.0. No point in trying to crack 1.5x since most people stuck with 1.5x have updated to 2.0. And I think .tiff support was added in 2.0.

Yes, you need the background to start the frame buffer and the photo finish! 2.00 will be hacked first! Update so you can play all the cool features while you wait .

Of course, you must have a 2.0 PSP to do this Exploit because you must exchange your background and 2.0 only can do this.

Edit: Sorry MICHAELSD, i didn't see your reply....

Ok so I think I understand this all...what it does right now is just turn the PSP background a different color right? WHY RITA WHY? Why must you make me evacuate!? Now my computer is all the way in Houston, and I am 6 hours away from it At least I brought my USB cable

don't worry if you can't get it to work, you're not missing much-it is confirmed tho,and that's all that matters. hopefuly someone will shape this into a usable exploit for running homebrew sooner rather than later, but it will be done,it's only a matter of time now.

all you 2.0 users should just go and have a beer and celebrate, cause you'll have your homebrew shortly....and maybe us 1.5 users will get to check out that web browser

Tell me... What EXACTLY does this do again?
I don't want to risk bricking my PSP if it's not worth it.

From what I can tell on the front page, it is a different way to load images/photos on your PSP, or something that only buffers them, or what?

From my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) this is just a proof of concept code that exploits a flaw in the libtiff library that the PSP uses. I don't know the specifics, but I think it changes the background of the PSP to a tanish color, to prove that something is being done. It is a buffer overflow.
