Ok , untill just now my downgraded psp worked just fine.
But about 10 minutes ago I discovered I can't update to 2.0 anymore!!!
when I press the update (from both umd and downloaded eboot) a screen with no text shows up and I can select X or O , but both options crash the psp.

I hope anyone knows the awnser for this one

edit : I did not use a version changer , and I did reset to factory default.

has anybody else noticed that all these people that keep on complaining about side effects are new members with a VERY LOW post count?

i think they're just sony reps that wanna scare everyone so that they wont downgrade.

how about trying to upgrade to 1.5x first, then 2.0?

What 2.00 update are you using?
I've heard that discs updates gives problems to downgraded people. I use the usa 2.00 downloaded from sony and it works.

Be quick to download it if you haven't done it yet... before the 2.01 is out.

i had the same problem when the downgrader came out i wanted to update to 2.0 and it came up with a blank thing with x and 0 but no text. just go to settings and hit restore default, something like that it will ask you to trype in a new username and stuff. then try to update and it will work fine

i never had any problems when i updated back up to 2.0 and then down again 1.5(just to test)..but ya try restoring default settings

I was going to mention that to him but he says he already tried it. It's the first time I hear that it didn't work.

o woops didnt see that..ya thats really wierd..but o well if he really wanted 2.0 he should have stayed at it..i dont mean to sound mean, but people need to make up their minds about what they want. i only reupgraded to test out updating again, and to show my friend that the downgrade worked b4 he tried it on his..

To be fair, TO, it was widely stated (not by me, as I haven't tried it) that you could upgrade and downgrade as many times as your heart desired. I imagine he heard this and decided he could do so.

o ok but i thought that it is flashed to eeprom which isnt meant to be flashed several times??

Personally i've just updated back up to 2.0 with no problems. (Using the demo disk that came with the PSP)

And then i used the latest MPH/SXT downgrader as it's supposely more stable. (And it downgraded with no problems also) - And if no one else has really had this problem it seems unlikely that you should have it. (And not able to fix it in some way like RocafellazThug suggested) - But i guess there's a first time for everything.

use the web browser?you can use a web browser on 1.50

the web browsers on 1.5 are crappy and in japanese so they are hard to understand..i am still waiting for a good homebrew browser that is in english, but for now i am just using the tenchi browser

no its not, and im not suggesting that, as i use the tenchi browser as i said before, and it is good enough for now, however im just saying they defiantely need a better homebrew web browser for 1.50

I downgraded 3 times already with no major problems i had one werid prob where my music file just appeared as corrupt after i listen to it

ya, its definately not wise to keep upgrading and downgrading..that is just making ur PSP more likely to brick each time. EEPRom is not meant to be flashed too many times..

We laugh it off as a joke, but it could be true, are swamped in sony reps at this site, maybe they dont post, but they visit this site. Go to any psp hack site, and chances are they link to this site. And maybe they do post in the forims askin noob questions and stuff, to find how the loop whole was found, and stuff.

I fixed the issue with the not being able to upgrade.
The problem was with the dutch language in 1.5.
So what I did was I set the lanuage to english then I restored to factory default and kept it on english. Before I restored with dutch on and kept dutch (failed)
I also restored with dutch and changed to english.(failed)

So basicly , put your lanuage to english and restore factory default and It should work.

Oh and btw , I don't post very often yet I have been here for a while.
I ONLY post when I have something useful to tell and not posts like "wow good work and I am a spammer who wants to get a high post count so people respect me YAY"

Don't want to offend you, but I think the Sony techs don't need to aks noob-questions to find out how the exploit works. The buffer overrun in the libtiff is open knowledge

I had the same issue with the blank screen with the update 2.00 attempted launch off the demodisc but when i reset the factory default settings and went to the 2.00 update after setting ur name and all that it did at least show the text and appear to work.. didnt actually do the update tho.. but its still kinda freaky that this happens..

LOL, I had the same problem. Except when I upgraded, to 2.00, I blindly went through the process without words or anything to press... I just pressed a few buttons and it upgraded. Though my settings got corrupted.. I re-entered all of it.

Just make sure you restore the factory defaults after downgrading and it will be fine. i had that problem also, as i went to upgrade after downgrading, all was blank on the screen and wouldn' t work. even my tenchi browser didn't work after downgrading.. After restoring default setting, it is perfect. Browser works perfect too. i think they even mentions that is the blobs. It should be stickied in Garps writeup
