Default 2.0 Launcher

Hasn't anyone noticed the news about the first 2.0 beta launcher?
Verry interesting and promising; although it is still limited with 64K it is a start.

It's really unbelievable how fast everything is happening in the last week since the buffer overrun was exploited.

Keep up fighting the good fight, sir!

um, i dont get it. Everyone says that there is a limit of 64kb, but i am able to run psppuzzle on it and its eboot.pbp is 124kb big. Does this mean it can run other eboots, plz reply, im quite a n00b as it seems....

Ok, first I have to state that I haven't tried the loader myself; although I have rudementary knowledge about ASM-Programming, the last time I did something in that direction was 5 years ago;

What I will write now is just an educated guess:

1. I reread the news; the 64K limit was suggested by an Admin of pspupdates. com, not by the author of the loader himself

2. Eventually the devs have figured a way to allocate more memory through syscalls than the 64K memory they got access to by the bufer overrun

3. or, (remember, just guessing) the executable code in the eboot ist not larger than 64K (don't know for sure what aditional info is/could be in the eboot)

4. or, perhaps the loader is able to load about 64k of code, execute it and then overwrite it with the next part of the code executed (I think this is crap, but who knows)

Remember, everything I wrote above could be absolutely wrong

I hope that later this day, other people will write about their experiences running other eboots than Hello World and Pong

i have a 1.0 firmware PSP with the Sony web browser, AVC playback etc.

the OS is 2.0, but says it's 1.0. Even Burnout won't play unless i update.

but sorry to get everyone's hopes up, but eboots won't run because like i said, even though it says 1.0 and can't play Burnout, THE OS IS STILL 2.0.

looked very promising, but i think it's nothing. who knows.

The reason why it says version 1.0 but you still have firmware 2.0 was because you were gonna downgrade, so you ran the overflow, and then you never DID downgrade. The downgrader changed the version of 2.0 to believe it was a 1.0 so the 1.5 update could be executed.

if this goes any further, as to run "Fastloader 0.7", am sure hell to update to 2.0.

so in the end there wasen't any need for the downgrader after all!

0.7 works best for me, too many steps in 0.8.

8 is not Fastloader any more. While 8 can run games that no other loader can its very inconvient to use it unless u want to play, say, Socom which no other loader can run.

socom has a .iso? hehe ill keep that in mind :icon_wink

anyways back on topic.. just a quick question about the structure of eboots:
i've had 1.50 from the beginning, and all my eboots are patched using kxploit, and some developers nowadays are splitting our eboots for us and not including a 1.00 eboot.. now my question is, and i could be completely mislead here, but can the eboot in the folder with the % be used as a 1.00 eboot? i read that somewhere else.. so correct me if my thinking's wrong.

Has anyone else noticed that he already bypassed the 64k limit on the eboot, hello world is 70something.
So what does this mean?

Yes we noticed...You can also run PSPuzzle which is 127kb. It probably just means that you cannot directly execute code larger than 64kb.

i noticed that too, considering the actual loader will take up most of that 64K itself and the fact that Hello World is more than 64K proves that limit has been overcome. Which means we could be very close to getting full homebrew on 2.0.

Still the question is how much memory they can allocate and how far we are from kernel mode

But I think it is only a matter of time...

Well AFAIK, all this does is just map a bunch of syscalls to functions that the PSP understands now. So that is why it only runs simple stuff, as it only has I think 85 syscalls mapped.

i tried to make a eboot loader that would launch through the tiff eboot loader ;] i dont know if it even works, because i dont have a psp dont yell at me if it doesnt work
you can test it if you want, put a eboot of something in the /psp/game/rawrburger directory in your ms and look if it does something

So this is a launcher that the launcer launches to launch a EBOOT in the RAWBURGER directory?

I would try it, but I'm what an American would call a "*****".
Anyway, so far as I've tested, WAB's Puzzle Bobble Trainer thing doesn't work, however their killing PSP demo works (without sound) as well as that thing with scrolling balls...
Sadly, SNES9x doesn't work.
And the PSP Python thing doesn't work.
