This is a discussion on Datel 4GB PSP Hard Drive !!!!!!!! within the PSP Homebrew and Hacks Discussion forums, part of the PSP Development, Hacks, and Homebrew category; Sweet! :Jump:...
Yeah, that thing is waaaaaaaaaayyyy to big and bulky. After seeing that guys pics of what the x2 battery actually looks like i do not want one of these. I like my psp being slim and sleek and light. I'll just stick with a memory stick.
Does anyone have the x2 if so is it too big?
Wow, way to ask something that has already been covered in this thread. Just click on page nine and scroll down a bit oh masterful searcher.
I agree, I would rather have multible sticks.Originally Posted by Magneto3521

I already have a 512 and 1 gig sticks, 2 gig on the way
They should get rid of the battery part and just spead the mem stick part all through the back of the psp so it just attaches without buldges.
why cant they use flash memory like the nano, that would make it extra small with very VERY little power comsumtion. I was thinking about opening my nano, taking out my 4gig flash, and somehow connecting it inside the psp. But i have no knowledge of makeing compsite boards or w/e their called. I wish someone would focus on the ms>usb, i mean is it really that hard??
Exactly, the nano is the size of a business card, yet has the same amount of memory. Why not build that same memory into a small package for the psp?

these are very good pictures...!
Its like the double size of the PSP !!
Hmmmmm....It actually dont look bad. I like how its has that grip look. If it is cheaper thana 2GB MS, I mean way cheaper I will buy it.
Where is that link to reserve one, can I reserve one?
What about the cable for the MS slot
What we must do with the MS-Slot cover of the PSP ? Cut it away ?
Just ordered mine :)
Should I get this or a 2GB MS? 2GB Duo is more compatible with devices than thi will be. But this does come with a Bigger battery. Someone help!!
I have already a 2GB MS...its ok its bit slow, but ok...
But with 4GB you have the double size !!!!
i will buy one !
They would propably make tons more $$ if they sold:
HDD 4GB + X2 Battery = $300 est
HDD 4GB = $150 est
MS to HDD adaptor = $10 est
prices are an estimate dont flame me
and Pro Duo to Compact Flash adapter: $20Originally Posted by polish
Or do you mean '4 individual pro duo's to 1 conversion' est $10?
Cool. I like these pics. The first had me a little leery (read: very) But these look a lot more realistic. i rescind my previous doubts.
also, I haven't heard of any adapters other than the duo to pro adapter. Where are these others found? or are they jus WIPs?
Is it just slow on writing or read too?Originally Posted by ViaCard

I think this hard drive is ridiculous. If you need that much storage on a portable device, I think you'd be better off getting a laptop. Hell, I could start bringing my Dell Inspiron 700m with me everywhere and saying it's my psp's hard drive. :icon_wink :ROFL:
Wow thats long. My 1GB Sandisk does not take that long!! Where did you get your 2GB MS DUO. I am shopping around for a bigger card.Originally Posted by ViaCard
I think the harddrive is ok, but 4gb, should be 8gb or more!!!!! Sony say the PSP is the walkman of the 21st centruy but look at these outrageous storage prices, tutut
also some info.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Connecting the Hard Drive to your PSP
The HD interfaces with the PSP by means of a flexible Memory Stick* adapter which is plugged into the Memory Stick* slot on the PSP (fig 1). Once connected, the body of the HD attaches snugly to the back of the PSP by means of two location posts which slot into corresponding holes on the back of the PSP (fig 2).
When used in conjunction with the X-2 double capacity battery the 4GB HD forms an ergonomic extension to the PSP which follows the neat lines of the handheld, fitting snugly in your palms.
Using the 4GB Hard Drive
Once connected, you use the 4GB HD just as you would a normal Memory Stick*; you can playback video, MP3s, movies and images and save from inside your PSP games. The only difference you'll notice is how much more you can now store!
* 1 X 4GB PSP HARD DRIVE
* 1 X X-2 DOUBLE CAPACITY BATTERY
* 1 X MAX MEDIA MANAGER PC SOFTWARE DISC
* 1 X HIGH SPEED USB 2.0 CABLE
* 1 X USER MANUAL
Demand for the 4GB Hard Drive is unprecedentedly high. The product is expected to be on sale on Codejunkies.com from Friday 14th October for European customers.
Keep an eye on Codejunkies.com for information on retailers stocking the 4GB Hard Drive for PSP as it becomes available
The UK Price is £149.99 and nothing for the US is confirmed yet. There's something you don't see everyday, out in the UK first
its lookin a bit chunky to me, and the read write times are SLOOOW.
i can finally sore Episode III on my PSP!!!, once it comes out of course. (shifty eyes)
What kind of harddisk is it.
It looks like something between 1 and 1.8".
If it is a 1.8"harddisk I will wait till someone finds out a way to replace the hd inside and buy a 20 gb (it is only about €85).
exactly what i was thinking, this thing is blatantly going to be hacked. Someone should find a way or extending the cable therefore allowing you to have the hdd in your pocket :Jump:Originally Posted by dutch warrior
