well sorta yes you can run EBOOT but since it runs in user space not all the eboots will work.

it is only very basic games/apps that will run, until they get access to the kernel mode of the psp it will remain that way, hust downgrade your psp to a 1.50 to enjoy full homebrew action

I'm not 100% sure, but last time I checked, the only playable game on 2.0 homebrew was pong, but I might be wrong...

The situation is still a little unclear as to what runs with the latest loader, not much testing has been done yet.

However Nem, your Hello World app is one of the ones that runs...

Generally, if you compile something under PSPSDK and just use user-mode, you should be just fine. There's currently a limitation with using relative pathnames in file operations - the loader makes no effort to chdir anywhere - but I hope to fix that very soon, and you can use fully-spec'd pathnames in the meantime.

I think (without much basis in investigation) that the issue with a lot of emulators at the moment is their use of the DebugPrintf screen within the SDK, which seems to pull in some kernel-mode management of stdio streams. This certainly seems to be the only major issue with LUAPlayer. I'm hoping that we may be able to work around that with a lot of the apps, so we may be able to get some emulators running too.

I'm also guessing that getting UMD emulation running is not going to be possible, because I assume that requires kernel access to fool the system.

It's easy on windows because they actualy let you, on a PSP they have tried to block homebrew now, i.e. stop any kinda of access (whether user or kernel). It can only run in user-mode currently and not kernel because the photo menu only runs in user mode (or so I think, I'm not entirely sure on that one). We have to wait until they find a way of bypassing whatever barrier there is between user-mode and kernel-mode.
