Default Instead of trying to crack GTA: LCS to work on 1.5

people should be more concerned on gettin kernel mode to work for 2.0, cause in turn that will allow you to play GTA along with all homebrew on 2.0, in addition to a good web browser thats in english. please tell me there are dev teams that are on the same train of thought that i am. cracking one game is much less important than cracking an entire firmware.

i really have no idea how hard it is cause im not really a programmer, but from what i understand, the problem getting GTA to run on 1.5 is decryption, and if someone could crack 2.0 this would most certainly lead to GTA on 1.5, unless i misunderstood. it seems like it would open more doors for the community, rather than getting one game to work on a loader.

you cant just say, omgz!!11 lets get teh kernAL!11.... we havent even got a proper user mode. (a pic exploit is not cracking, just exposing).... and gta is easier, once we find a way to crack gta, we can use the same methods for other games. We have to show that we can keep up with sony, not just hide behind our 1.5's and never upgrade.

I also think that kernel access will ruin our fun because of pirating. I'd rather have a way to play all umds, but not isos, than play everything. If we cant play isos, sony wont care, homebrew just promotes the system more. When the pirating comes in, they try to force us to update, as they did with gta.

Donts you get it, PIRATING=BAD, HOMEBREW=HEALTHY
Each time you pirate ANYTHING on the psp, you are only contributing to the downfall of the psp. Soon, sony will just give up, and forget the psp was ever made, as sega did with dreamcast.

I agree with IBMWookie. I would love it if piracy dies but homebrew lives on!

Be realistic, pirating cant/wont die it goes along with homebrew. I would love kernel mode just for PSPRadio.

Then why did Sony close the door on homebrew in 2.0 with 2.01 and 2.50. Because they do care. They fear homebrew just as much as ISO loaders. Sony will not change their minds on the issue.

Wow. I really love the way people in here personify Sony as if a huge, global, multinational corporation is one person or a small group of people. You know, Sony really gives a crap one way or the other towards "homebrew". They've even ENCOURAGED it with the release of the Yarouze program for home developers!
Granted, you have to play by their rules, BUT you get access to all their tools, knowledge-base, distribution network, and possibly a paying gig in the future if you're good enough, so there has to be a trade-off.
They don't really care since ISO "pirating" is such an insignificant loss to their huge profit margins. What the firmware developers THEMSELVES (i.e. not "Sony") care about is to not become reknowned for the most hackable, shoddily-built firmware in gaming history. THAT'S why they are plugging the holes and releasing timely updates, some of which contain NEW feature sets. They want their resumes to look GOOD when/if they leave Sony.
You guys/gals need to remember that Sony just isn't the PSP.
It's also got the PS2, future PS3, movies, videos, music label, entertainment gear, and electronics. The PSP could die tomorrow, but I do believe Sony would recover just fine.

yes i agree iball. anyways kernal mode doesnt just open pirating programs, though it is an added bonus. o and btw i use fastloader to play games i own. i hate how everyone assumes that fast loader is JUST for pirating. Fanjita is making progres in 2.0 while everyone cries over GTA he is one of the few sensible people about the whole thing *not to offend those hacking LCS*

If you REALLY want GTA you would upgrade, at least temporarily.

Default what the hell are you talking about?

I know most of you guys won't like what I'll say but let's do it anyway.

Sony itself is all about piracy. How on earth would a console like PSOne win the race over the Nintendo 64 with evidently worse games, with almost eternal loading times, and all that **** that made it a really undesirable console? All thanks to their suport to the CD format which was so easy to copy and hack. That helped them to grow in popularity amongst gamers, a fact that also brought them more console sales and inevitably more game sales.

Sony owes its presence in the console market of nowadays to piracy.

And please stop talking of sony as if they were a bunch of saints trying to make us happy. All they want is to cheat us to buy crap like GranTurismo X or ResidentEvil Y, again and again, just with improved graphics (and really clumsy gameplay).
