Default Slow USB transfer speed

I'm using a 2.0 usb cable, a usb 2.0 hi speed PCMCIA card on my windows xp dell laptop and still my transfer speed to my psp wont go higher than 135k/s. I have tried everything (update drivers etc) but nothing works. There is nothing on this topic in the general faq. So has anyone any suggestions?

It's more than likely the memory stick has the speed limitation.

What type of memory stick do you have? Sony's are slower than sandisk's. also for sony's the bigger the space it holds the slower it goes (or at least my friend told me)

transfer speed mostly depends on the type of files to be transfered:
a lot of small files, e.g. jpeg = slow speed
large files, e.g. movies = fast speed

AFIAK this has something to do with the writing method used by all flash media.

also you can try to improve usb2.0 performance by unchecking the option for fast ejecting (somewhere hidden in the device properties)... which means that you can no longer just unplug the psp, but you will have to use the eject hardware icon in the taskbar..... on the other hand winxp will use a different caching method which results in greater transfer speed.

hope i could help

BTW also sony ms uses sandisk flash memory ;-)

yeah I got a sony memory stick and its extremely slow 140k/s I tried it in my camera and the same result (get proper 2.0 usb speed with a normal memory stick pro).

****ing sony, first I had to buy a memory stick duo as my 1GB memory stick pro that came with my sony camera didn't fit in my psp and now this stick proves to be extremely slow..... aarrggh...
