I am searching for High Res photos of the insides of the PSP. And if possible has anyone identified any of the chips inside? Do we know which chip is the firmware? I had hoped that some would have surfaced by now.
I just ordered a crashed/broken PSP on ebay, and i want to gut them. I would love to know what exactly is inside this thing. I would love to throw a manual/ebooklet together of whats inside, maybe it might encourage more tinkering on the hardware end of things. Any links would be greatly appreciated. emPulse |

Mod-chip? Not needed at all.
Custom firmware with ability to run unsigned eboots off the memorystick hacked into it? Definately needed.

Not really suggesting a Mod-CHip so much as I would like to know how people are getting video/TV out, How are PS2 controls connected to the board. In that area i am more interested. Altho I have been thinking about a chip with simple selectable banks for storing legal Sony firmware, but this is solely to satisfy my need to take things apart, and usually take away a little knowledge and add more misc computer parts to my closet (i wish you could see the graveyard of hardware's past).

Thanx!
![]() Okay, that was not so good after all. That was little more than what i see when I check out some of the parts websites. It just shows the motherboard with the label motherboard. Someone has to have been curious and opened one up..?TeamX did the USB thing.. i wonder why they never released any info.. oh well. emPulse Last edited by empulse; 11-10-2005 at 04:20 PM.. |

Otherwise, all we are going to get is something like MPH's loader (Or it's copies). Oh. And for anyone wondering why the loaders can't use (for example) /PSP/GAME/LOADER/FIRMWARExxx, the way they work is very simple - They (decrypt and) load the prx into memory, do a search and replace inside the prx: FLASH0: becomes MS0:/F0 Then executes each prx. BTW, has anyone had any success recompiling MPH's loader with support for preunencrypted / patched firmwares? I've got over the initial _init -> loaderInit (SDK change), but I'm having issues with it after that. |
