Default PSP Revolution

Here it is, our first full relelase of PSP Revolution v0.1

PSP Revolution is based off the popular game Stepmania and is compatible
with Stepmania (.SM) and Dance With Intensity (.DWI) song files.
To install additional songs, copy them into pack folders in
"\psp\game\pspr\songs " just as you would in Stepmania

Devin923 and I have been working hard on this first release so we hope you guys like it =)

I'd like to thank Swordline for helping us with some testing lastnight and today, helping us identify some of the bugs to work out before the release.

well its great. I think just sum more sound when it comes to the menu would be awesome. Also if you want to put music into the game you have to put it into its own seperate class folder. all in all its sexy.
edit: wow i feel like im the first one to download it....

Downloading and testing! Will leave feedback asap!

edit: (using 2.0 firmware) "I regret to inform you file ms0:/psp/game/PSPR/EBOO./sounds/fail.wav failed with error file fail."
Well it says file is only an "EBOO." other then that anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I would really like to play this so ill give it a go on the v.7 of the loader.

hmm great perfect in everyway
except fo a few things
for start all of the songs ive used have syncing issues
ill start the song and
you know the parts of a song where its silent in the beginning?
it starts a few bars into the songs so you dont hear that silence
so the music plays, before having the arrows catch up.
sometimes on higher difficulty songs
the song wouldnt even load.
but im sure you'll be working on it
great game overall though. :icon_smil

I came to the same conclusion as Hmm, it looks like people with 2.0 are left in this dust, or are we?

i think its some dodgey coding, either the fault of the way the eboot loader interprets it, or an error in coding for the psprev team?

Great job guys! One of the most fun games i've played in a while. I've written an article for the front page, you can check it out here: http://pspupdates.qj.net/2005/11/dance-dance-revolution-on-psp.html

Also, i've made a little video for anyone who is interested in this and wants to see it in action: http://pspupdates.qj.net/PSPRevolution_DivX.avi

excellent the scene really needs a perk and this game looks to be that. Is it 2.00 compatible?

Just tried it, and I am quite impressed. Arguably the best graphically endowed PSP game to date, very nice. Gameplay works quite well for the PSP, and the control system is nicely freeform, which is very useful.
It may be an idea to add True Type font support, so that you can use that nicely styled font for text which previously used the default nem's pg font. I also think that it would be nice to have moving backgrounds, even if it's just a scrolling image, though ffmpeg support would be awesome if the engine could handle it.
Definitely a good game, as i'm sure everyone else thinks as well.
Well done.

P.S. What's that PSPAdvance logo doing in the credits? Are they sponsoring games now?

Impressive, thank you very much !

I don't know if this has been suggested already, but I think a vertical mode (such as in star soldier or the pinball game) would be particularly adapted to stepmania.
You could even play with the D-pad or the 4 buttons (O, X, etc..), holding the PSP one side or the other.

This is by far my favorite homebrew to have been released on the PSP yet. The first thing I thought of when I loaded the program up was "OMG THEMEEZZZ!11!!1uno", so I've immediately begun work on a hacked-up In the Groove/ITG2-based theme based on the defaults.

Hmm...I installed a pack of songs on it, and my PSP seems to freeze after I select the pack and begin looking for a song to play. Odd.

Specifically, it freezes when I scroll over Sakura from DDR 8th mix.

I have the same problem, but mine freeze at the Mix selection. I added the 5th and Disney mix but somehow, it freezes when I try to choose one of the folder

*edit* Looks like the problem is coming from the loading of the songs/mix banner image in .png. Maybe there's a limit in the filesize, I don't know, maybe also in the way the PNG is created. I'll test more and post an update on the results

Well it freezes only if you have a corrupted song or file, when i tested the game 2 days ago it did it too, i think its mabe if you have too mutch songs in the pack, or just a memorie leak(psp has only 32mb)

Yes, just as I though. If the banner doesn't have a dimension of 256x80, the game freezes, even if the banner is only 2 pixels smaller, it won't work. Maybe in the next version, you'll find a way to strech the banner

So if your game crashes, simply delete the banner file or change its size in photoshop (or any other picture edition software that supports PNG)
