I just got a complimentary PSP, lovin it so far, but I was wonderin first and foremost which firmware version to be on, right now its showing i have 1.52 i heard this version cannot be modified?? unless an official update to 2.0+ or whatever, so why is there no webbrowser capability unless i up to 2.0+ but its possible if i download a custom browser to the memstick right? please so i'm really confused what can i do and what do u all suggest i so far want to run homebrew and don't have any games right now anyway so not worry as much about getting latest version, and whats this i hear about downgrade all the way to 1.0? is that safe yet?

A 1.52 isnt going to be a virgin very long..

edit: You cannot downgrade to 1.0 because you will have to goto 1.5 and your psp will be virgin no longer.

no since you can only downgrade to 1.5 by updating to 2.0 and using the mph downgrader

Correct, 2.0 has an exploit that lets you downgrade to 1.50

In firmware 2.0 a web browser was added to the PSP menu.
Downgrading to 1.5 will remove that, but you can download browsers that run on 1.5

I suggest you read a stickied downgrade guide.
There's no point going all the way back to 1.0, 1.5 has more features and supports more games

Just dont upgrade to 2.60. Avoid upograding using wireless, because thatt will automatically take you to 2.60

i would update to 2.00 with the demo disc and then either use the downgrader and goto 1.50 or just update to 2.00 and use Fanjita's 2.00 eboot loader for homebrew since there's no idea in hanging on 1.52 :/

Update to 2.0 using the demo UMD disk, and then downgrade to 1.5.0 using the mph downgrader.

I say stay upgraded since I HEAR PoPoLoCrois is as impossible to run on a 1.5 as GTA. I upgraded about 2 weeks ago and I dont regret losing homebrew I just lost interest(WOW after all that flaming about people upgrading i did in the past i didnt think id ever do it) homebrew is just portable rehashes i played to death already mo need for them now.

The ONLY way ill ever regret my upgrade is if Dual Savior ever comes out.

2.0 is cool for homebrews most 1.5 stuff can be run on 2.0 "most stuff"

You pop out the game, keep the psp umd lid open
turn the psp so the umd lid is open towards you
and then pretend its a chicken
