IF anyone has a working dump, tell me how to arrange the folders and stuff, that would be much easier.

st. jimmy, use FAKE UPDATER its a firmware dumper like psar dumper thats easier to use and it actually arranges the firmware directorys and files for you, as well i dont think i can give u a link to a dump as it would be violating the forum rules.

NOTE: Just tried MPH's website, works fine for me.

Default Both BFM v1.00 and MPH 0.13 cant run a real UMD

I try Both BFM v1.00 and MPH 0.13 (after loading the firmware). Using and insert a original Wipe Out Pure UMD disc to try and play but it does not run.

no everything goes in the root of ure memory stick (ms0:) even the Flash1 files, dont worry if it overwrites some stuff, its ok if it does that.

SXT is just an older version of MPH's firmware loader with their name slapped all over it.. i checked the sources. um you can't run any UMDs or any of the features that 2.00 has to offer cuz i did it yesterday. all you can basically do is emulator the XMB and thats about it ... maybe a later version can let us either run eboots, browser, or UMDs. but we only got as far as the XMB with this one.

Okay I'm really confused what do these firmware loaders do?

Here is what I think i understand of them:

They load the firmware from the MS instead of the flash but I don't understand what they do after that. Surely if its loading the firmware then it should do exactly the same as if it was loading from the flash. It's doing the same thing just from a different source.

Can I use it to load v2.0 firmware on a 1.5 and run GTA?

I'm currently on 2.0 anyway but if i can do the above then i'll downgrade and use the firmware launcher.

Wow I sound like a complete noob. But then again I am when it comes to this subject. Others I am much better with.

They just load the firmware from the flash.

But i can't seem find anywhere about wheather it writes to the flash1 on your ms or to the actual chip?

Strange first time i launched it i tried the web browser it came up with that blue screen asking me to press circle (i opted for the off switch instead)
and now when i try and launch it, it clicks but nothing else.

But before i press circle on anthing i just wanted to check that i couldn't screw up my flash1

I looked at the last source release from MPH (1.2.0) and the latest from SXT.
Both sources are similiar but different in programming style and structure.
I mean, every firmware loader for the PSP is going to be similiar since some things just HAVE to happen (i.e. unload old modules, load new ones, etc.).
That said, Yoshi did spam his name all over the source for the BFM loader, don't know why. Most coders just put it in at the top...is he really afraid someone is going to do to him what he did to others? Meh. It's just an intellectual exercise anyway.
And the 1.2.0 loader was created using Microsoft Visual Studio while the BFM (SXT) one was created using the PSPSDK...probably with cygwin or a Linux box. You can tell both were compiled a little different due to the presence of a makefile in the BFM one and the lack of one in the MPH 1.2.0 source.

Oh okay so at the moment they're pretty much useless.

i just wanna warn people that, my Flash0 got screwed up twice when using SXT's loader, but not to worry, it got repaired easily by the PSP's blue screen of death.

Its weird though, it its says it loads all the files from my memorstick why did it corrupt my flash1
