This is a discussion on Has anyone thought of a way to increase the psp's screen refresh rate?? within the PSP Homebrew and Hacks Discussion forums, part of the PSP Development, Hacks, and Homebrew category; topic...
thats probly impossible
thats a hardware thing, only way would be to mod on a better screen, and that aint happening
It's an LCD, so no refreshrate, and if you want more FPS just use 333mhz.
Or buy a better CPU and replace the one the PSP has, but since that is impossible up to now, you have got to live with what you have. :)
I guess you are talking about that kind of "blur" when something is moving on the screen in a game, aren't you ?
In fact, when I played my cousin's PSP for the first time, I played Dynasty Warriors and when I changed the character sight too fast, there was a high blur effect, so that mades me hesitate to by my own one.
In the other hand, watching a MP4 or UMD movie was just impressive to me and reveal a perfect screen without this blur effect.
I think PSP video architecture contain several video mode and the one which display 3D scene just have this blur effect. (like the GBA had a Mode7 to display 3D games like FZero, Mario Kart, etc. and several other Mode to display other kind of stuff)
So, I guess changing your screen won't overcome this screen refresh trouble.
To test the PSP2TV device could help to check this (if the moves are blured on a TV screen).
The screen IS slow, so It really comes from the screen, I saw some PSP2TV movie those weren't blurred

I think the screen refresh rate is a bit slow anyway (compared to new PC flat screens), but in movies this effect is not so much visible as in games.
I saw many 'not blured at all videos' on the net, even in-game ones but they must have been captured on the official sony emulator... (by rendering them direct from the emulator, no blur effect could be visible)
Ewww, usually it's the oposite...new devices offer better performance...but that way they just want to make more profit :-(Originally Posted by Calum
I just realize that european people who are buying their PSP now have a worse screen and can't run homebrew (mine was 2.1...) compared to people who buy an imported one... that's just crap :-( (just a personal point of view)
hay calum, if thats true, YAY!!!!!
i have a US orginal 1.5, i guess its best to not have the first ones made with all the umds popping out and buttons sticking, and its not great to have a newer one with all the half quality screens
There probarbly isn't a way without spending mucha moolah!
P.S Calum, I'm Nitr0x from neocodex
