Default ScummVM emulator for PSP

I don't know much about emulation so I have no idea if this is plausible or even possible but I figured I'd put it out there... I believe someone did this for GBA but I'm not sure how good the speed/compatibility was.

Since scummVM runs pretty well even on GP32 i guess it should be possible. All are complaining that you cant move the coursor without mouse, but i still think you can easy move it with the analog stick, just check old notebooks, they also moved the mouse with a thumbstick.

So i would love to see scummVM, would be really nice !!

@soad
SCUMM was a scripting system used by LucasArts back in the day to make all their old adventure games. Stands for Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion, as that was the first game to use the system.

Holy crap, playing the Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and fate of the Atlantis and monkey island on PSP would be great. Just too great.

I think if it's released I'll cry a little.

Those are all great games but aren't we all forgetting something...... How amazing it would be to play Day of the Tentacle. That game was an Awesome game, however Monkey Island 1+2 isn't a bad consolation prize

Day of the Tentacle was also created using SCUMM, so a SCUMM interpreter released for PSP would be able to play it =)

A port of ScummVM shouldnt be hard, it is open source. One guy on the gaming age forums said he is working on it. Dont know if he was lying, but I think we will see this rather sooner than later

Too bad it doesnt run Grim Fandango, but it does Sam & Max

Yeah, dont forget about Loom ! Sure it was a bit different but when you got into it, it is the best Lucas Adventure ever for me

And Scumm also runs Simon the sorcerer hooray !!! Get this to PSP ASAP
anyone that doesnt know about scumm can check http://www.scummvm.org/

checkout the compatibility list, it really supports a huge list of games! even Gobliiins hahah great !!!

http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.p...orum_id=115756

maybe nag them, and someone will port it

Not just old notebooks .... dell has them along with the touchpad, i believe that thinkpads do too....

AND, just look at the dreamcast version, sure ... you could use the kb/mouse ... but the controller worked fine.

There is already an official PS2 port for ScummVm, so I dont think its too hard to port from that freely available source code.

Yeah, mabye Marcus Comstedt would give it a go (one of the original main influences in the dreamcast scene, has been into the psp scene, and did the 1st port to the dreamcast of ScummVM =p). I mean hey, it's possible.

Good guy too...

btw, SCUMMVM is NOT an emulator, it's a full re-write of the SCUMM interpreter, no emulation what so ever....

Hi Guys,

Myself and an official member of the ScummVM project are currently working on the port. No ETA as yet but it has now been successfully compiled on the platform.

Thanks guys... a bit of a update I guess. ScummVM-PSP is now full compiled and runs on the PSP now, but does not actually work yet. But, it does display the command line options for running a scumm game(even if they are garbled) Next step for the team, which is now 3, is to implement the specific PSP backend to draw the graphics, do file io, controls and sound (including midi emulation).

I'll have more info as it happens. If we actually get something running then I'll post screenshots.

Tommy.

Will there need to be special mods for the text? I would assume it would be rather hard to read...
