Default GTA LCS with emulation

ok, what i did was loaded gtalcs with UMDEmulator, and used system menu, then went to mphfl 1.3.7 u4, and loaded the 2.0 firmware, then i went to the UMD icon, and gta showed up! i know this doesn't mean anything since when i press x it simply backs off and comes back, nothing goes wrong, but nothing goes right either, so if mph gets UMD boot working on the fl, this could rock for us 1.5 users. just thought i'de let you know what i found out, even if it means nothing lol.

well it wouldn't hurt to post it, it might mean somthing to a dev, and it could help them succeed in loading 2.0 games on 1.5... i was only trying to help... i too am trying to get gta lcs working on 1.5, so any progress i make _might_ help someone else.

lol....well thanks for TRYING to contribute, whereas people who flame you...are actually hurting the nice people who try to help. like you and me, and all the few other nice people out there.

And if the launcher allowed full umd boot...and full web browser..all people would pretty much be on 1.5

I'm confused because when i had my 1.5 psp n inserted the gtalcs umd i cld see the movie when you highlight the umd and i would press x it would say the "you must updatye the software......" so i used wab's v.changer and i would press x and i would get the gameboot video and the screen would go black.....nothing else and i'd have to remove the battery to restart it! Is this just my psp or is it normal lol? (my psp is a 1001K and i have the US gta lcs game)

It is normal.
That is why this thread was started.
You need 2.0 firmware to run this game, a version changer will not help.

The loader still uses the original OS (1.5) to load the UMD. Hopefully, in the future, firmware emulation will allow us to run 2.0+ required games but it isn't there yet.

well come to think of it, it wouldn't be that hard to get 2.0 games working on the mphfl... just make the program listen to the drive, and when it calls for prx's, just guide them to the 2.00 ones, and voila, 2.00 games on 1.5... btw i put that in very short terms, the process would be longer, i just summed it up for the sake of saving time.

oh, and this is a question for a professional... could we possibly replace the prx from 2.00 eboot to the 1.5 flash0? that would not only make it so we don't have to emulate, but we could load 2.0 UMD's with ease.

you cant mix and match prxes successfully...
it might work sometimes, but its not the cleanest way out...
full 2.0 emulation is the only clean way to run 2.0 games in 1.5

You should look into eboot loader 0.9, it runs almost everything. Even starting with some WiFi apps (using an amusing trick) I was in the same situation as you, and upgraded for GTA, but the homebrew is working nicley (plus the browser and AVC video)

yea update to 2.0 and stay there, there is hardly any use for 1.5 now (except for devs and pirates)

Another reason is that there is the belief that the "flash chip" (or whatever, the part where the firmware is saved) will allow only certain number of memory flashes, after that, the psp dies. However, the people who knows a lot about this say that the number of allowed memory flashes is so huge that you won't ever reach it even if you flash like, once a day.

Anyways, the risk of bricking your psp while downgrading will always be present. I think it's not related DIRECTLY to the fact that you are downgrading though, there has been reports of bricked psp's while UPGRADING in a seemingly safe way, so it looks like there is always a chance of bricking your psp whenever you change (regardless if it's down/upgrade) your firmware. Thankfully, it seems that the odds of this actually happening are extremely small, but you never know if you are the unlucky one... :icon_sad:
