THats BS
From what i read, all he is doing is placing 2.00 files in the flash of a 1.5, if it was that simple, it would have allready been done. now im not saying that it doesnt work, cause if you theoritcally put say the avc codec prx into the correct folder of the 1.5, games like gta wouldnt know the difference when looking for that module but im just saying that thats to good to be true, thats saying that the way sony made the psp's firmware is based on plugins, so when they add a web browser, its simple as adding more prx's, but what about the compatiblitly issue? simply dropping a new prx into a different firmware shouldnt work not just cause security, but all the other modules werent made to look for such files... *headache* |

He's expecting MPH to be able to flash his edited .prx's onto his PSP's flash. Isn't possible because there is no way to sign files as of now. If he really is able to edit some .prx's and create his own custom firmware, we could still use it in the MPH Firmware launcher. But I don't think this will work, personally.

It's 100% possible to make this work using MPH's firmware loader.
It's 0% possible to make this work in a real firmware. You would have to be able to re-encrypt the decrypted PRX files, which you are physically unable to do without the official Sony PSP SDK.

Sure, you could flash it to the 1.5 ... and you'd end up with a brick. Unless the PRX files are encrypted with the official Sony PSP SDK, they are unusable in an actual firmware.
This will never work on an actual PSP without an illegally pirated copy of the SDK. Besides, MPH's firmware loader never actually accesses your PSP's flash. It cannot write to the flash.

Have anyone checked out the "media edition" of his fw hybrid??
http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16179 Edit: The media edition looks exactly like the fw v.1.5 but it can play sp coded mpeg-4 videos. Avc doesn't work... Last edited by SodR; 12-29-2005 at 04:58 PM.. |

The official PSP SDK contains a code signing utility. However, only Sony can write anything to a UMD, since they control all the UMD recorders in existence.

That sounds like bs considering if that were the case all we would have to do is execute the signed code from a memory stick instead of from the UMD. Even if it weren't q u i t e that simple such a utility would be of great benefit to us (it would reveal their private key)... which is why I think you're wrong on this one... but I would love it if you were right...

In fact i read a few months ago that sony had problems with some japanese companies because they were producing hentai and such in the UMD format and they (sony) couldn't control it... |

both of u are wrong
With the Official PSPSDK There is a PSP Development Unit (PSP Dev Unit) which can play unisigned code similar to a 1.0 PSP, but this PSP can also played unsigned code from the UMD. the SDK Burn these Unsigned UMD's and Developers Test the games on these machines, when the game has went Gold, Developers Send a DVD of the Game Data to Sony to be pressed on UMD's so meh..
