New to Homebrew - wish to make the most of it
Greetings, PSP Homebrew persons!
You'll have to excuse me as I'm not fantastic when it comes to Homebrew apps on a system not intentionally designed to run them - I'm rather slow, so you'll have to bear with me.
I have a PSP - I'd purchased it primarily because of the Homebrew side. I was, and am, very interested in emulating some of my favourite classic games on the move. The problem is this - I downloaded the 2.50 Firmware not long after I bought my PSP, back in October. Ouch.
I recently discovered that an exploit in GTA-LCS allows you to run unsigned code. Fantastic. I went out to buy a copy and now here I am, wondering what the Hell to do next. Most of these PSP Homebrew websites have some amazing content - some really creative homebrews, and some really up-to-date news. However there is no method explained for running the homebrews, nor is there any detailed information about what the Homebrews actually do specifically. For example, the MPH Firmware Launcher v1.3.7u5 looks as though it might be worth a download, but I can't find any explaination for what the program actually does. I've found Update Histories, bug fix information, etc. - all well and good, but meaningless without a detailed explaination of what the software does.
Forgive me if I sound dense. I'm sure that you're all slapping your foreheads and "DUH!"ing at me. Yes, "Firmware Launcher" probably does sound as though it should be self-explanitory. But surprisingly, it's not enough to go by - does it launch older versions of the Firmware? Does it allow me to run, say, V1.50 on my 2.50 system and let me run Homebrew software properly? Does it let me run brewed Firmwares? Do brewed Firmwares let me run other Homebrew apps? No explainations are given, the FAQs on this website are in dire need of updating to assist those of us who, unfortunately, are running firmware higher than 2.01.
ANy help you can offer would be much appreciated.
