Default Fanjita on MSN Games' News Page!

Hi guys I was surfing Digg.com and found this
http://digg.com/gaming/Hackers_crack_PSP_2.60_patch_2

it's all about how "a cracker named Fanjita, cracked 2.6 firmware to allow people to play ISOs off there memory sticks and how Sony are valiantly trying to stop this" it's complete crap.

It's crap like this that's giving us people who love homebrew a bad name. It's complete crap!

The actual article can be found here:

The mainstream media just will never get it will they? Where's their source link aswell, because I'm pretty damn sure they got that news from here, if they linked to the source they could atleast let people find out the truth, instead of just tarnishing a good man's name.

Way to go Fanjita!!! made the news.. who cares if sony comes out with a new "update" patch most people that went to 2.6 know better and wont go any further... The onyl way someone would download a new patch is if they add support for something really cool.. so they can patch that security flaw.. Ah well Win some lose some.

I know its cool that he made the news, but I think the man should at least be portrayed as what he is, a hero.

Yeah, I was thinking, that could be classed as slander, could it not?

Did you read the article? I didn't see anywhere in there saying that Fanjita supports piracy. It just says he's credited with the breakthrough.

I see this as true. Fanjita released a "patch" that allowed Tetris to be played (also stated in the article) and a guide so that others can open it up even more and eventually play more things. The Article has a *VERY* limited scope of what those things are, however. I'm sure that in his response Fanjita tried to make them aware of this, but I don't see this as slander. It's ****ty they wrote it without looking around, though, and understanding that I don't necessarily want to play WipeOut Pure without paying for it, I just want to be able to play the game that Joe Schmo wrote. Even ignoring emulation, the homebrew scene here is growing fast and good games are only a click away.

Good god edison carter cracked 2.01+ yes but is he releasing a loader or did he release game that could be played off this.............no thats like saying who ever made electricity should get credit for everything that runs off it edison carter gave a stepping stone to get homebrew working and fanjita stood on this and walked his way up to getting games working.

I did the same. This is a really low blow on their part. Utterly lacking in journalistic integrity.

They both did. Edison Carter did it first, but he never told anyone how. Fanjita figured it out again on his own.

The problem is that they wrote it in such a way that directly blames all the PSP piracy worldwide on Fanjita.

I think this was the sentence that wound me up the most, and can most easily be construed as saying that I want to use ISOs:

Quote:
...whilst those behind the cracking suggest that they merely hope to copy their existing games to the memory stick in order to improve the sometimes lengthy loading times
Far more accurate as "those behind the cracking merely want the freedom to run the software that they have written, to improve on Sony's feeble attempts".
Or, you know, words to that effect .

Not quite. Jim Paris and psp123 worked together to reproduce part of Edison Carter's work, and from there several of us worked on understanding Edison's code so that we could make use of it to run other code.

anjita is a good man, and his reputation should not be tarnished by some simpletons who dont read into things. I ranks up there with Pawstick, Cyblade (R.I.P. sir), and the many other coding gods of the PSP.

Could somebody point me in the right direction to getting in contact with the people that wrote this article. I dont actually know anybody more concerned about piracy, the only way to stop it would be at where it can start, the eboots and as far as I know that would be the only way to keep homebrew alive.

Pshhhh! Media has always been ignorant and deceptive. These guys don't obtain even the smallest of knowledge in issues and hasten to write about them yet the masses blindly follow and believe them.

Look if it dont matter what ppl like them say at all at the end of the day its what Sony think. If they think he is doing something illegal like ISO loaders they would be banging on his door since hes pretty open about where he lives etc... I do wish however they would get there facts straight b4 posting anything guess I will never belive what MSN say again

i love the mainstream media....whenever they cover tech stuff they always get something wrong... such as on my local news the guy went to CES and all they were talking about were ipod accessories and that DVDs are now able to hold more space.... DVDs cant hold more space morons...its a whole new tech called blu-ray (not hd-dvd, they showed the 50 GB blu-ray disk)

retards
