Do remember that this is running on 1.5 only so it CAN have access to flash.
Seriously, do you guys WANT to run a leaked/hacked copy of the P-BETA (dammit, I'm calling it the Paid-Beta or P-Beta now!) that can put the PSP firmware at risk?
    I wouldn't.

we add a new feature, beta team do initial testing, if its given the all clear its handed to pro members to play with, when all the bugs, when both beta and pro member teams feel the feature is solid enough, it is added to lite.
This is to put it in a strange way, quality assurance, if someone is willing to pay $10 for priority support and access to beta builds then its more or less certain that they feel psix is worth it, and as such they are more likely to give better feedback on the bugs and problems, rather than posting "it sux"
    Sounds logical to me.

And SDL is LGPL and an externally-called library. It's not wrapped up inside the PSIX code itself (because that would be dumb as h311).
It IS actually inside the compiled executable, and the same goes to Libmad, so you cannot make money from it. this would change if they use "externally-called libraries, but this is NOT the case here. Now i see your coding experience.
    [/quote]
    Zitat Zitat von iball
Also, you're forgetting what they are "selling": access to forums and beta builds. They aren't SELLING the final product. The final product will be FREE for all. So it's not a COMMERCIAL application as fas as both the GPL and LGPL are concerned.
    Research, boy, research.
    You are wrong.
...Using the GNU GPL will require that all the released improved versions be free software...

...if you release the modified version to the public in some way, the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the program's users, under the GPL...
They should release the source at least of the parts using GPL'ed code.

And don´t tell me you have swallowed that they are selling access to their forums and Beta stuff, i thought you were less naive. As soon as anyone can purchase it, they are distributing to public. Beta or not beta.

Now i am going to work, read you later ;)

long story short, if you have folders named
    HOMEB__1%
    HOMEBREW
    etc etc
    just rename them to
    homebrew%
    homebrew

this fixes the problem, its just because the initial scanning system in psix only scans for 1.00 and kxloit based homebrew, and hidden icon methods dont seem to like it much, we'll address this issue soon

Fluff, please tell them that if you put ur hidden icon trick folders in something like... PSP:/PSP/GAME/NEW Folder/ then it makes them look right, it worked for me :)

As long as these bugs get sorted out and the lite version is improved then great, I can wait. The thing is i'm not into the idea of paying to be a beta tester.

By the way are you still working on any of your old feature's from your alpha version's such as FTPD- FTP Daemon, RSS Reader's, Email Application. Or the UMD Config you had planned that could play any region umd video, bypassing firmware requirement's etc.. and other things you had planned.

No, libmad is contained within the audio module, the only related part in psix is that it has calls and functions in the module, which are not a part of libmad,
The way you say it is like saying you own someone who sits in your chair, because it's your chair, just because the person uses the chair doesnt mean that the person is property or part-of the chair.
The libmad module itself is available in source form on request as stated earlier.

As for the bootloader, i've just finnished discussing it with Shazz via email and we have come to an agreement over its use that both allows psix to continue to use it, and adhere to the GPL terms.

Yes in future those features will be implimented, tested and published freely, as for the skin, once we have the complete default skin nailed down, i will release that version, the current version, and minima, freely via the site.

Not entirely sure then, may i suggest backing up the contents of your memory stick, and formatting it, then attempting to boot it again after a fresh instal.

    hmmm...time to rant.

I love these people who dis PSIX for being "buggy" and how you shouldnt charge for it, even before they read ANYTHING about it in the first place. Its funny how all these people have about 7 posts on this forum, yet have the nerve to give advice by saying "screw PSIX, go to PSP-OSS!" (in effect) and yet this project is still the very first released, and is going to be improved greatly.
These are the same people that say "hurry up and release, CAN I HAVE A BETA???" and yet once its released (not fully finished I would like to mention) ***** about it being incomplete. If you dont like what Fluff is providing here, then dont use it. Otherwise sit back and enjoy the ride.

It IS actually inside the compiled executable, and the same goes to Libmad, so you cannot make money from it. this would change if they use "externally-called libraries, but this is NOT the case here. Now i see your coding experience.
Now I see you only choose to read and understand the parts of the GPL and LGPL that agree with whatever position you have taken on the matter.
Do Y-O-U have the sources to PSIX to verify? No, you do not. Neither do I. So while I might not agree with this silly naming scheme and business process of Fluff's design, I can't accuse him or the rest of the PSIX team for GPL or LGPL violations since I do not have access to the source code.
And neither can you accuse them for the exact same reasons.
Did they improve or change any GPL or LGPL code?
As far as both you and I know, they did not. So shut it already.
When was the last time you coded something for a million-person branch of the military? That's right. Never. Believe you me, we have to go line-by-line through any piece of code that we find as "open-source" out on the internet and be very damned careful with it. Which is mostly why we do NOT use much open-source code in the military. We hire professional coders from the outside to code things.

    Zitat Zitat von Sauron-Jin
    You are wrong.
    You are mistaken.

    Zitat Zitat von Sauron-Jin
They should release the source at least of the parts using GPL'ed code.
Correct, if there was any GPL'd code used in the PSIX source itself.
But if it contains completely unmodified libraries and is not sold commericially then....you are wrong.

    Zitat Zitat von Sauron-Jin
And don´t tell me you have swallowed that they are selling access to their forums and Beta stuff, i thought you were less naive. As soon as anyone can purchase it, they are distributing to public. Beta or not beta.
Actually, Fluff has made this horribly confusing with that stupid "Lite" and "Pro" naming convention. "Pro" is actually "Beta" and "Lite" is actually "Pro". People are paying for access to beta builds and special forums, that is all. What is currently in the so-called "Pro" release now will be freely released to public in a few months time as soon as the bugs are worked out.

    Zitat Zitat von Sauron-Jin
Now i am going to work, read you later ;)
    I'm amazed someone hired you.
Obviously not for your debating and logic skills, little they may be.

What I think these people dont realise (this is directed to iball) is that they arent paying for THE PRO VERSION. They are paying for support, access to the forums, and, of course, the BETA builds. They are not paying for pro, but to be, essentially, part of the PSIX team...hey Fluff, what does PSIX stand for anyway?

i answered this in the faq, but oh well
the skins for the time beign arent customizable, because the application isnt fully finnished we are still making various changes to the default skin.
however once we have finalised the skin we will most probably release a tool for both linux and windows (maybe mac if someone wants to port it), that allows the easy creation of skins for psix.

Oh, and in case anyone gets the mistaken idea that I'm "defending" PSIX in any way:

When folks are wrong, they're wrong, and no amount of false accusations based completely upon assumptions will make them right. Don't make accusations when you don't have the FACTS, or in this case the actual source code to look at.

LOL! Nice one ;) I'm surprised to see you actually sharing INTELLIGENT ideas in this thread. It's...it's...it's like a whole new iball

I must say, reguardless of the ammount of times i may have found iballs posts offencive, once given a full grasp of the situation i cannot fault iballs logic, and it isn't like he goes around posting meaningless drivel, far from not being intelligent in my opinion :)

Then obviously you don't make a ton of money. Perhaps you make what YOU consider a ton of money.
Exactly, What would be considered a ton of money to any middle class teenager.

    I'm amazed someone hired you.
Obviously not for your debating and logic skills, little they may be.
I don´t need someone to hire me, i have my own company, after some years of working as management director it was time to fly for my own (my company is not related in anyway to computers or software, i am here as hobby). I am not the kind of poor looser who need someone to guide and supervise every one of his steps. As you see again you are wrong for not making enough... research, and talk about supposicions.

Thanks Fluff for clarify Libmad is built into the sound module (which is not the same as a externally-called library.. coff iball...), hope to see you acomplish your promises about making the sources of this module available (which at all terms is considered an improvement over libmad coff.. iball.. XD)

Now i promise i am not going to back here untill it´s time to go home, supid absorvent forum and it´s funny people (coff.. iball )
