As some of you have probably already seen, Psix is now hosting a raffle for its PRO members. The raffle is for a Sony 1gb Memory Stick Pro Duo that was generously donated by Digital to the Psix devs. The contest is for Psix PRO members only, meaning that you must buy a Psix membership first if you wish to partake in this contest.

Now, don't go on an rant how this is just a way to get new members, it is just a kind gesture suggested by Digital to the PRO members as a thank you for signing up. Future contests might be held as well for PRO members.

the money toghether yet and my (Postman job lol)
aint going so well

. I have gotta think of a way?!?
Maybe i could sell my 1GB MS to get Pro and i luckly

Actually, this IS a gimmick to get more Pro member subscriptions.

In other words, if it wasn't a gimmick then this thread would have never been created.

It still is a gimmick. It doesn't mean it's a "trick" just a "gimmick".
And since it's a free donation, it's a "cheap gimmick" since you didn't have to pay money for the 1GB stick to raffle off.

I offered this memory stick because I had recently come into pocession of it and have no need of it as I already have 2 of them. Since I cannot sell it for various reasons, I tried thinking of something that I could do in order to give back to the community I am most active in, which is the PSP community, more specifically Psix. As I result I thought that we should run a raffle in order to reward people for trusting psix and helping us continue to develop and make this program greater. So as a result we decided to do a raffle for pro members.

Take it as you want, this announcement was not meant as a way for people to try to put down other people's kindness.

putting the contest announcement up ahead of time does not make it wrong. It is a way to ensure that if people want, they can continue to come in and join the community and offers a way so that no one who wants the chance to be left out.

Would you call Pspupdates Premium member only contest a cheap gimmick? Because that was only for paid members.

My my my, how some people who don't know what the definition of word is take great offense...listen, bud, it wouldn't be a "gimmick" if it was never announced here, only on the Pro members forums or via email to the Pro members. Since it was PUBLICLY announced to everyone it instantly acquires the moniker of "gimmick".
A "gimmick" is neither good or bad. It is what it is: a "gimmick" to drive up subscriptions. It's not a "trick" nor a "lie" because the stick will truly be raffled off and given to one of the members.
Now, if PSPUpdates held the same thing and only posted about it in the "Premium Members Only" section of the forums, then it wouldn't be a gimmick since it was ONLY advertised to paid members.
I'm not trying to start a war here, but don't think this is anything more than a "gimmick" to drive up Pro subscriptions.

I placed it on these forums because I thought it was notable that DigitalEvil was doing this, it is a very generous act. Take it as a gimmick, but the true intent was not a gimmick, just to tell everyone that being a PRO member is rewarding at times (we are not telling you to sign up for PRO..).

PS: People have complained that PRO is just a membership, but this proves it is more

If the intent was not for it to become a "gimmick" then it never should have been made known outside the Pro membership.
Read the definition again.

If no one is reading the Pro forums, then why not just scratch the forums and have a closed forum section here instead? Fluff can add/moderate people in it. Plus, they get to sit here and click "New Posts" and they will see any new posts in there but non-members won't see a thing.

1st. PSPupdated did announce it on the FRONT PAGE of this website. They announced the contest and talked about joining premium.

2nd. I have every right to take offense at whatever I feel is an unneeded act of distain toward something I did or believe in. And your extreme constant slandering and unneeded critical words against programs such as Psix offends and annoys me. So if it were allowed (here), and if I ever found it needed, I would simply tell you to "piss off".

Stating that it is stupid for one to take offense to your (unneeded) words and feelings because of the context in which it is taken by one's self along with modern society, is just plain moronic.

edit: PS: We never stated that the forums were not active, we commented that not all pro members use it. Which is usual for ever place that offers a paid membership, Including pspupdates! Meaning that if we followed your advice, it would again leave out some people who might of wanted an opportunity to win it.

Okay so far i think Psix is awsome, i have one issue though i want to order pro membership but paypal dont support Maestro cards and thats the only one i have.
