First of all I just want to say that I love homebrew as much as you guys, but sometimes there is such things as going to far. I'm not talking about emulation or aps program...I don't really think Sony even cares about them. What I'm talking about is the UMD ripping that opens up to burns and bootleg PSP games.
I think that is the number one reason why Sony is forcing us to have the firmware updated and for that reason only, I have to agree with them. Put yourself in their shoes and I'm sure most of you would be proactive about protecting your hardware. I think its wrong and could kill the sales of the PSP if UMD ripping is possible within the public's access. We don't need that now...its ok to do that kind of thing at the end of the PSP's life span when its obsolete and a newer Sony portable have arrive.
Mind you, of course I hope Sony won't be able to stop us from playing our homebrew games and such which I think are ok, since I believe it would help sell more PSP without hurting Sony financially. UMD ripping/burning or however you want to call it, is a whole diffrent thing here and it's a serious matter. I really hope that there will be a solution to all of this to bring a happy medium between Sony and the hacking communities withour hurting each other.
