That would be McZonk from Team Emergency Exit. I don't know about progress, though.

The latest pulic news about PSP Dual Boot on Team Emergency Exits homepage is over a month old. I wonder if they are making any progress.

Quote:
PSPdualBoot progress
Hi all,
these are no news about Quake 2 this time but about my progress at PSPdualBoot and other projects.
Because I get about 40 mails every day I decided to give you some information's.
Progress in PSPdualBoot isn't that good as I want it to be because of some exams coming on I have to practice for. If everything works like I want it to work I will release it in the first quarter of 2006. But it is still possible that I come to a point where I don't get any further.
I do have 2 other projects beside dualboot, one of it is a tool which I write with dot_blank and one of my own. Dot and I started to code a NAND-Writer, we didn't do much yet, but this will change.
My own project has only got a project name until yet. It is called "ProjectElisha". I won't tell you more about this project at this time but it has something to do with 2.0. The name is just fun and has nothing to do with the program.

we already got homebrew for just about anything thinkable...
all we were missing was this...

tho one thing id like to see is, so that we can just disable the umd autoboot function..
no autobooting of hb,
just no umd autorun

Especialy pink.

I don't think its dual boot you want to know about is it if your talking about the 2 chips.
Last I heard from that was that there was an iss as the flash chip also contains the ram that it was difficult to fit both chips but trying to keep the length of the conections as close to the original as possible.

pspdualboot is the project where you edit the flash and it boots a homebrew app on startup instead of the psp xmb. dualflash is the project with the psp with 2 flash chips installed.

With DualFlash, you will be able to run two firmwares on a single PSP. This would allow you to play all the newer games as well as homebrew at the same time. DualBoot allows you to boot up a homebrew on load. This could be interesting, since when it comes out, possibly shells will be fully developed and those could just replace the XMB. That would be nice.

Isn't this thread meant to be on the topic of DualFlash not DualBoot?

I don't see how a 'DualFlash' project could be usefull to anyone other than the owner
of a single PSP unit. Even if the 1.5 fw can be used to downgrade the 2.6 chip, it
still doesn't help anyone else in the world.

A DualFlash would be more cost efficient (theoretically) than having 2 seperate PSPs. Think about it. You use your 1.5 (or 1.0) flash to play all your homebrew, and then your 3.0 to get all your wireless features on the go. The only problem I see, as someone posted earlier, lies in space. The PSP is already packed as is, and throwing in another flash wouldn't be easy.

Here an interesting question. For dual boot its modifying a file in the flash right? Is the file thats modified updated in the firmware update? If not would there be the posibility of using this then updating and using that to run homebrew. Although its probaly having to change the btconf cnf (I can't remember the exact name the txt file with the boot list on it) in which case that would be updated.
As for dual flash the main purpose of it is not so everyone can run to firmwares it more for devs the want to do work with firmware it means they have a safe guard against bricking their psp as they can just switch to the other flash and rewrite the firmware to the other one.

it would generally be updated..maybe by changing startup scripts, or starting drivers or whatever..we wouldnt know.

and regarding running the homebrew, its highly improbable.
the dualboot method will most probably doing a scekernelloadexec to load homebrew.
if it doesnt run normally, it wont run in this case.
