Default Beats of Rage PSP V0071 **Updated**

Version 0.071 By SamuraiX

Updates:
-New Memory Management System (Should be able to play most if not all bor mods).
-New Memory Thresholds option under PSP Options. (Defaults to High Any issues try Low).
-New Load Time option under PSP Options to help load times. ("Enhanced" will switch CPU to 333 then back to 222)
-New Analog Pad Support.

Fixes:
-Out Of Memory while loading levels refer to (Memory Thresholds Options).
-End Of Level Stuck Bug finally fixed in widescreen mode. Tested with two different mods that used to get stuck.

Usage:
-pak file must be renamed to "bor.pak" lowercase letters.
-Delete settings.sav and allow BOR to create new one for this release!!!!!!!!!
-Use DC, PS2, Xbox and PC mod paks in that order due to PSP Memory limits.

I dont know why, but ever since verison 0.05 I keep getting stuck at the end of the level, Im playing the Hyper Final Fight1 mod.. Maybe its because im using Firmware 2.6 I dunno... Im going to try a different mod and see how that goes, Ill edit this post with the conclusion

Are you playing in widescreen mode? Because I'm trying to resolve that problem at this moment. Normal screen mode should work. As for end of stuck levels some work some don't. I was using Hachet Ninjas to test it out. Thought I had fixed it but I obviously need a better overall solution.

Yeah at the end of the level the go sign keeps coming up and I already got to the end end of the level cant go any righter lol.. Im going to try a different pak, oh, and I used both the 1.0 and 1.5 eboots see if that would help.. nah and i used original and widescreen.. no go and I love me some HFF

EDIT:: Yeah, I tried Hyper Final Fight 2 and it works perfectly.. I guess Ill keep version 0.05 for the ones that dont work with this one.. and I really love HFF1 the best.. Thanks for this great emu SamuraiX, even though I cant play my fav. mod on the newest version, none of this would even be possible if it wasnt for you.

I will test it out now. But your saying it used to work in version 0.05?

Yeah it used to work in 0.05, read my Edit too, I have more detail

:EDIT (again):: It seems the only mod Im using that doesnt work with this is only Hyper Final Fight 1.. My street fighter one works perfectly as does HFF2.. my double dragon mods never worked with any version because theyre newer mods, but I never expected them to lol. So Ill keep 0.05 for HFF1

ok... I found out why it no longer works in 320x240 mode... Stupid mistake in my part. But its a hard fix in widescreen mode.

ok... I have fixed the end of level problem finally (I hope)! But I want someone to try it out before i release it. I used Beats Of Rage mod and I was able to make it to stage 2. Please give me feed back on what didn't work(hopefully good feedback)....

P.S.
I've updated the main post. It now has version 0.071 that finally has the end of level bug. Tested with two different mods.

Well It seems fixed. I tried out Hachet Ninjas also and I was able to make it to level 3. Where it was stuck before on end of level 2. I recommend everyone use v0.071!

Thanx a bunch, Ill definately give it a shot in a minute!

::EDIT:: OMG you got HFF working.. you da man, no more staying around.. So happy, now I can finally get through the game in widescreen, and no lockups. The street fighter mod locked up on me at stage 2 like yours did before, so hopefully this is all good. Do you have a donation place up or something?

Great update SamuraiX, i just have one question, unfortunately Final fight Apacolypse and Final Fight the last round mod still dont work, when i try to run them it says,

Invalid animation name 'freespecial2'

Are these and some newer mods going to have support in the coming releases?

Thanks

It seems that the newer mods are for OpenBor. I can always allow them to run on bor but their could be side effects from doing this. Right now I just want to make sure that bor has no bugs. Once I've accomplished that goal, I will start working on OpenBor.

No no lol, the street fighter locked up at the end of stage 2 in version 0.07, I didnt try it yet with this new one, been playing HFF1 , But I assume this version fixed that as well, Ill have to wait till I get home to try now, (am at work )

EDIT:: BTW, Im talking about the Beats of Rage Remix version SFII not the Kill Ryus and other Street Fighter Mods... the BOR Remix one is the best SF Mod, I recommend all to try it out!

Hmmmm...nothing big but the Naruto demo doesn't work on this version only on ver. 5, every time I load it up it cuts off my system.

Hey SamaraiX, just wanted to inform you that I was playin the mod of X-Men, widescreen, and it crashed at what I assume is the ending part lol. I've never beaten it b4 and today was my 1st time playing Beats of Rage. Just thought I'd let ya know, if you need the x-men mod to test it out or w/e just lemme know and I'll host the bor.pak file for you.

When you say it crashed does that mean you got the blue screen? Just need to make a note that the original bor source does very little to check for errors. I have improved upon it alot but it seems there are still areas that need improvement.

P.S.
Try to change the Memory Threshold Level to "Low" under PSP Options and see if you can pass the level now.

Is This the X-Men Mod? http://borrevolution.vg-network.com/cmods.html

Yeah thats the one. I didn't get a blue screen, my psp just restarted back to the main menu, well the eLOADER menu. It was running fine though. I'll try the low threshold memory setting. The xmen mod, I had to go to the page you linked, but the pc link download wasn't working for me, so I downloaded the DC edition and extracted the mod from there. Took a while to figure out heh.

Oli-,
You ran out of memory! Thats why I introduced the Memory Threshold level.... You will need to set it to "low". When ever the BOR exits out for no apparent reason. It writes a file. Its under the same directory as the eboot. Hmmm, I can tweak it a little more. Right now High = 3 MBytes Left then cleanup/reload whats necessary. However, if a level requires more than 3 MBytes to load (rare) then you would exit. If you set the threshold to low = 6 MBytes left then clean/reload whats necessary. However, then clean up would happen more offen. I will adjust the high value some more. Make it 4 MBytes for High.

On another note.... I'm having the hardest time implementing a file selector. If anyone wants to help feel free to send me a PM.

So if I have it on low threshold, that basically means i'm gonna spend more time loading the game and flushing my ram every map? I don't mind as long as I have stability, i'm running the game @ 333mhz so its silky fast anyhow. I wanted to play the strider bor but apparnantly thats for openbor only or something. Either way, great job on this emulator.

As far as your file selector thing, I would think if you could make a system similar to mame, where your emulator identifies the bor, checksums it, and then executes it, that may possibly work. Damn the more I think about it the more difficult it seems, you should try to get in touch with the mame developers since I think the system they use for mame is similar to what im thinking. Good luck anyhowz.
