Default PSPJabber v1.01 Released

INSTANT MESSENGER FOR PSP! SWEEEET!

Here’s an instant message client for the PSP that has lot of promise! So much promise that I was surprised when I saw Davgav post about it in our forums because I hadn’t heard a peep about this program up until now. Maybe that’s because I don’t hang around in alot of Spanish-speaking circles – and I’m apparently missing out. PSPJabber makes use of the Jabber IM servers and does it with style, the interface seems very polished! For those of you wondering, there is no mention of whether or not this will work on 2.0 PSP’s, so check it out and leave some feedback on your results. Here’s some of the vital information from Davgav’s post:

CONTROLS:
Start: Menu
L: Change Contact to send messages
R: Change Contact to send messages
X: Cancel
O: Confirm
Keyboard:
D-pad: Select a character
A-nub: Change UPPER/lower case
O: Insert selected character
X: Delecte a character
Triangle: Insert space
Square: Enter/Send message

SERVERS
Has been probed on the following servers:
jabber.org
jabber.org.au
jabber-hispano.org

VERSIONS
1.01 2005-03-01
Corrected an error on WIFI select. Now always O to confirm.
Added support for Kopete icons.

So it's an app for a messenger no one has ever heard of. Super. Well at least someone may be able to model something after this for AIM or MSN.

Edit: I don't want to sound ungrateful so good job on the app, very smooth looking.

So what if it's not well known. Let's make it well known, it can be a little thing that PSPU members use to chat with each other. Plus Jabber is popular in some places.

Don't you guys goto forums that have little IM buttons? Well usually they have Jabber buttons, I've never personally used it though. So does Livejournal (lol)

This is great news because it proove that a working IM program can be made for the psp.

On the front page in the comments section there are instructions on adding AIM contacts to this program. I'm going to try out that feature tomorrow and tell you all how well (or horrible) it works for me.

between this and the flash player im excited.

Download GUSH install it on youre PC
http://www.2entwine.com/download/rel...gush-setup.exe

Make an Account example. xxx@2entwine.net

Then Login on GUSH as the account you just made. You will see a orange roadsign it pulls up a Gateway page.

From there just enter in youre AIM MSN ICQ info and hit enter.

After that enter any contacts you want on GUSH. Or import them on the gateways page.

After you are done go to the CONTACTS.TXT of the PSP program Jabbar.

change it to this...

server=2entwine.net
port=5222

(((Note: Theese are the login info you made on GUSH)))
usuario=xxx
password=xxx

((This is you're MSN info))
usuariomsn=xxx@hotmail.co m
passwordmsn=xxx

pasarelamsn=msn.jabber.or g.au
contact=xxx@2entwine.net

GUSH basically sets up you're Jabber/2entwine server the way you want it. After you got GUSH setup with everything you will have to logg of of it to recieve any messages on PSP-Jabber although you will be able to send them still.

After you close GUSH you're settings WILL stay and you can reboot you're PSP any time you wish. The only way I see to add 2nd party contacts though is to open GUSH back up and add them but that is simple.

All this keeps you from having to enter any additional Text into the CONTACTS.TXT on Jabbar sence no one has released the commands.

So you don't really even need any info past the 2entwine.net user pass info in the text, but I added it anyway.

Hopefully someone will make this english with a good readme so we can edit the 2entwine/Jabber account through the PSP. Untill then this works great.

I also tryed to connect to the regular AIM client at the same time GUSH was signed into AIM and only one at a time will run. So if you are having a connection problem be sure AIM client is turned off.

So sence I can't use both I just made a screen name TrEonPSP for PSP use only.

I encountered some problems with it showing peoples online status after I had added my whole buddy list of 60 people. It wasn't showing anyone online untill I cut it down to around 20 screen names and restarted it.

Hopefully someone that can program will use this as a model to make an English version and hopefully add on some of the needed options such as a cursor and on screen keyboard. Also a Wifi signal stregnth meter would be great so we know if they are recieving messages.

The same for me. It just goes to a black screen after selecting wifi connection. I think it might be because of my wep tho because the light flashes for a few seconds then dies like maybe my router is rejecting it. Will try turning off wep key for a bit to see.

EDIT: It does not like WEP key. You must disable the WEP. Sucks man I hope he adds security in next version. Otherwise I won't use this much.

wep is not the problem.. like much wifi homebrew you need to have your connection set to a static ip. now the program will be able to connect.

also for those who are getting script errors, keep the contacts.txt file all together

makesurethefilelooksliket his.

and
not
like
this.

i tried entering in return key, so each command was on another line. but if you keep it all jumbled together, it will work.

Hmm.. I edited mine in wordpad and the default

was

So I continued to do it like that.

It's extremely important that you edit the config file in the psp with notepad and not wordpad...
There are ,the first time you open that file some little square(they seems so :-) beetween any options.
You must only change any value without changin the original format of the text.

I had this problem and I fixed reinstalling the homebrew and editing the config file only cancelling the old values and adding the newers .

ugh i just can't get this to work - ALL I want is AIM

a couple questions...

1) people keep saying CONTACTS.TXT - i dont see that so i assumed to use CONFIG.TXT

my config file looks like this

lang=./langs/english.lan
wlan_id=0
debug=0
sonido=./sounds/type.wav
fondo=./fondo.png
server=2entwine.net
port=5222
usuario=thorin84 (gush login is thorin84@2entwine.net)
password=(the password i used for this gush login)
usuariomsn=example@hotmai l.com
passwordmsn=12345
pasarelamsn=msn.jabber.or g.au
contact=davgav@jabber.org .au

ive been trying many things with the msn values and no luck

and yes i am using notepad and not changing the text set up. I am using a static ip without WEP

and all i get is black screen...sigh =/

I think the aim.2entwine.net gateway is down at the moment probably because the whole PSP Scene is usen it.
I will look for a few diffrent gateways to use I should have expected a server overload!
There should be plenty of jabber gateways out there to add to the GUSH program.

http://www.xmpp.net/bycountry.shtml
put a prefix of aim icq or msn on one of theese. example. aim.xxx.xxx
will work just like aim.2entwine.net does...

Some people are having problems with something. I don't know what though because its simple.
Heres a screen shot of my PC with a Pic of it running on my PSP for proof. Plus my CONTACTS.TXT is on there also...

how did u get the gateway online and Aim online at the same time - when i try to log them both on one gets knocked off bc it says i signed on from another location...

other than that i have ur set up 100% to a tee - but that 1 issues could be the problem?

My regular aim client is screen name TrECeNTeRs

My GUSH/Jabber account screen name is TrEonPSP

My aim screen name I used on the gateway "an PSP-Jabber" is TrEonPSP

I used a diffrent gateway then 2entwine, I clicked the road sign and typed in one of the servers on Here that has AIM gateway support "just guessed one" pimpstation.org for instance.
Then hit add and the gateway aim.pimpstation.org came up. So I signed in my AIM TREonPSP screen name right there on the aim.pimpstation.org gateway.

Before I made TrEonPSP I was tryen to use TrECeNTeRs on everything and you just can't do it because it will not sign on the AIM client and GUSH/PSP-Jabber with the same screen name at the same time.

You can use GUSH and PSP-Jabber at the same time BUT while GUSH is on PSP-Jabber will only be able to recieve messages and you willNOT be able to send messages from it. Only GUSH, untill you turn GUSH off that is.

Hope this all helps and I didn't do it for nothin.
