well there are font threads spread out everywhere
i know in the registry you can enable the wma support on the psp i was wonder if you are making a program for that b/c the one that pspdizz sux b/c it gets ride of all of you settings this was just a thought
Yeah dude I totally agree (I have suggested this in the past).Zitat:

There are like 70 pages of font requests... There needs to be at least another thread devoted towards any exploits possible... Should keep the post count down! (And keep the "H0w5 th3 d0wngr4d3r pr0gr3ss g01ng??" posts down too!)
I's sure we could just add it to the existing program, i'm going to talk to Skylark and FreePlay about it when I get a chanceZitat:

Maybe I am going crazy... I have searched but I cant find any (relevant) threads regarding a registry exploit. I dont suppose that you have a link?Zitat:

ta! :)
actually im not sure where i saw it - it might have been a thread on another forum. i aint got a good memory at times.
there are loads of sites on the web offering free fonts, if it not with the required extension im sure a converter could be found!
So, what's happening with this exploit, im not gonna read all 93 pages ;D Is it still in progress, and if so, do you need 2.60 tester? :P
Hokay, this isn't going to become a downgrader - i think they have even stopped trying to make it a downgrader, it does however allow you to change your PSP's font.
They do not need any more testers as the *final* versions have already been released, check the font page
no offense but i guess you didnt read my sig...Zitat:

i was talking about where the thread i saw about the other hack was posted.
can i ask hows the progress going?
Whoa! This thread has died!!Zitat:

1 whole day without a single post! Normally I would groan when I see a 'hows it going' post, but now I am intrigued...
I know previously it was said that it was unlikely that there would be an exploit developed from registry hacks. Im wondering... has everyone given up? Has it been confirmed that changing the fonts is the limit of what we can do, forever, with this particular hack?
Peace.
Nothing has been officially confirmed or denied.
and the work is ongoing - any exploit is a weakness that may or may not alone have a use but in combination with another exploit it could possibly, theres no way to tell till someone actually does it.
if anything comes of it im sure it will be main page news for all the main sites anyway. be sure that people are however working on this and other exploits to crack the system once and for all. i for one am happy to have the font exploit because it is damned usefull, it wont harm my psp, and i managed to contribute a little something to the scene.
but for now i think this thread should be left until something develops.
That's not entirely accurate. We've essentially ruled out the possibility of an exploit through a direct registry hack, for two major reasons:Zitat:
Zitat von TeamOverload
1. The registry parsing functions are extremely well-coded. There are no loopholes that we could find.
2. A registry-based hack would be an exploit that runs in kernel mode. A single erroneous instruction could brick the PSP.
We've also considered the possibility of creating a font file with an executable payload, but as yet we have not found a way to actually execute it.
So the work is still continuing, but the registry-only route is pretty much closed.
Well I think more people could also be contacted who are experienced in all different areas.
i know this thread is about the font expliot, has any one though about trying to load the icons for the psp menu off the memory card. while i would not be able to figure out how, it sounds very much the same process...
in theory yes but in practice no (i think). ill explain why.
the fonts path is embedded in the registry (they are loaded by the registry after initialisation of the xmb) and the fonts path in the registry was a fixed path and thats why it was relatively easy to hack.
the icons however reside in flash0 and are most likely loaded by one of the core files. its possible, however unlikely, that the registry contains the path to the icons. i could of course be totally wrong but this makes sense to me. it really depends on whether theres a path contained in the registry that points to the icon files but i have seen no reference.
No, there is not any path in the registry that leads to the icons, so using GTA at least..it is not possible to edit them
So.. then do we need an exploit found w/o any additional software:games, movies ?
I am really hoping for a kernel hack.
I think most of the time should be spent on trying to find an exploit in the registry because we need the new features and homebrew.
Dint they already say there is no exploit htrough font mod!!!!
No they said there was no 'apparent' exploit. Someone could find a hole in the registry parser or something else.
Hi Freeplay, thanks for the informative response.Zitat:

Can you explain how a kernal mode registry based exploit could brick a psp with a single erroneous instruction? I thought that it would just crash/hang... Or do you mean a malicious instruction?
Anyhows... Its not really that important - I believe you anyway :)
Your tireless efforts are much appreciated by psp users all over the world...
</suckup> :p
If you do the wrong thing, while it is doing something that involves the flash, it will then be corrupt, and your psp will be a brick.
Then you can build a lovely house.
You will need a lot of bricks for that. Anyways, there should be an official subdomain in a little while(Few days..hopefully)
nice of you guys to tell me my program wasnt good enough for you.
http://psp3d.com/showthread.php?t=6640
thanks a lot - much appreciated.
[/sarcasm]
thank you to those who have used my program - im sorry but because of this there will be no more updates to my program. ill try and remember to not ever offer to make a program for anyone as every time i try and help someone out, they stick a knife in my back.
this is my last post on this subject.
heck no don't die out :icon_sad: :icon_sad:
don't listen to them they are gay
i believe u.....
u are my last hope.....=.=
Dont stop..your program is good..dont listen to PSP3D..they flame the good devs and only support the devs there who have no clue what they are doingZitat:
Zitat von Anger
i know psp3d does flame legit developers but the fact remains that a new version of a gui interface (or all in one?) has been released. they claim it is by sky and free. i just assumed my program wasnt good enough for them and thats why they made it. but i need to know - did they make it or did someone else? im pretty sure it says in the readme that they did indeed make it. i just was wondering why they would have made a better looking one without even telling me that mines wasnt good enough - that is if they did make it. if they didnt then i owe a lot of apologies to people on here.
this thread has been dead for days....anything happening ?
Yes. It was dead.
Yes, we made it.Zitat:

Dun Dun Dunnnnnnn!
You could always PM me, you know...Zitat:

I did, actually. I told you that we needed an interface that let you use *all* the options available, not just a small subset. I'm 100% sure I told you this. And if you have a problem with us making a GUI for a program we've been working on, you've got issues. Competition is what makes innovation possible.Zitat:
