PSPlayerMT for PSP (Support avi res up to 480x272 with 29.97fps) by a korean guys.

A Audio/Video Media player for PSP can capable of running 480x272 full screen video with almost no framedrop.

It may have a simple GUi but the video performance is wonderful

You got to try it.

It support the following extenion and format

1: avi, mov, mp4, ogm, mkv, nut, asf, wmv, mp3, m4a, wma, ogg, asf, wav.

2: MPEG1/2/4 video(divx, xvid), Windows media video, Ogg theora, Mpeg audio(MP2, MP3, AAC), AC3, OGG, Windows media audio

How to use the program

Left Shoulder - start from beginning
Right Shoulder - Go to Menu
circle - select the file
triangle - zoom
square - displays info
home - quit
left dpad - rewind
right dpad - fast forward

Some techinical notes...
1. FFMPEG based. (libavcodec, libavformat based. thank you)
2. VFPU optimization for IDCT. (based on holger's code. thank you)
3. COLOR space conversion done in PSP GE.
4. Optimized read routines removing almost read waits.
5. Super fast audio conversion that supports 8-48khz audio. (including mono source)
6. Sophiscated buffering method reducing drops.
7. Can goto sleep mode (maybe PSP 1.5 only?)

Why does it have the uber watermark on the front if it can directly convert loads of file types?

Default Damn Cool

This is what I really want. to play different formats of video...
Onlyone thing left. and that is automaticresizing. .and that should probably come soon I guess...

WOW this is the Media player for PSP!

This player should have its own website, with regular updates..
This binary seems like 1.5 month old.. and we've just seen it!

The player can only support resolutions upto 480x272, he probably used a trial version of a program to make the video a smaller resolution. Anyways, am I the only one who can't get wmv files working? I'm pretty sure it says that they're supported are in the readme file.

It runs really choppy, and colour out most of the time.
It was unwatchable with 5 files i tried, sadly.

Is that just with wmv or are you getting chopiness with everything?
Also, if anyone wants a file to try out the player, have a go with this Oblivion teaser encoded with DivX:

Jeez. The nag is from the converter the OP used, not the video player. You will not see a WinAVI message on your PSP if the video does not have that message already,

Colors washed out? Placebo, unless you've put the PSP in the washing machine? I would make special encodes for this player:

480x272 Xvid NO special effects (Qpel etc)
NO higher bitrate than 750kbs
MP3 CBR (no VBR) up to 192kbs
Use the CORRECT FPS (US TV 29.97, UK TV 25, Film 23.97)

I arrived at the above through trial and error. I don't get washed out colors, reminder screens or jerky animation.

So this video is supposed to work? I've tried it several times and it just says waiting for video to initialize, it counts and then freezes. I'm using e-loader 0.96 and firmware 2.0. Any idea what my system's problem could be?? Does it matter where the video is located? I've tried it in the root of the memory card and in the PSPlayerMT folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to be able to play divx/xvid

I can confirm it works beautifully here on a GTA-mod 2.5/d'Alsace

This is the answer to my prayers, it doesn't get better than this.
I bought the PSP for videoplayback, so I could watch programs while in the Gym. Hey, the restricted quality from Sony was so sucky that I stopped going to the gym :-)

Anyway, cheers to those that made this possible...
Can anyone recommend me some software to transcode my xvids and avis? Which encoder was used for the Oblivion video?

Cheers,

Neo

Nice find. I can't wait to try this out tonight with some AVI clips/movies.

Anyone who has already used, please reply with some feedback of what type of video you used and what the quality was like. :icon_smil

Curses, I'm using the same version of the e-loader (biere d'alsace), but I'm using the TIFF version, I didn't bother installing the GTA version because I figured they have the same compatibility. I'm going to have to try it that way now to see if it makes a difference, I can't think of what else it might be

edit: are you using any type of special config file for the e-loader? I just did the default install and haven't modified my config file at all.

I'd recommend VirtualDubMod for transcoding to divx and xvid. I've had some successful encodes, if anyone wants I can upload those. I tried this on the TIFF eloader 0.90 and it worked fine, 0.95 - directory listings are accessable but are not visable, and GTA 0.96 works fine. Yeah I know the first two are outdated but they're still on the PSP... I have 2.00 fw and will be upgrading to 2.5 soon so I can play Maverick Hunters X.

I haven't been able to get WMV to work yet, nor MOV. All I've been able to get to work is DivX. I got XviD to work but without audio, though I think it was the program's fault for that. Will try some more soon.

Ok, I got finally got the video to play by using Eloader 0.90... must be something with the 0.96 tiff version that just isn't completely compatible. I'm going to use 0.90 rather than 0.96's GTA exploit, it's a lot faster than having to load up GTA and access the savegames.

It was choppy with wmv and my 3gp converted files.
Mpeg worked fine..

Your file worked perfect, so im happy with avi.

Could someone host 2 files, with 1 running 480x272, and another running the stock size?

For any FF fans out there, here's last year's E3 trailer that was shown behind closed doors at the Square-Enix booth, encoded for playability on PSPlayerMT:

http://s51.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...M365QL21TDKVFE

Encoded with WinAVI. Enjoy

I've had no luck with wmv's, but an avi at 320x240 resolution played fine. I haven't tried a wmv at 480x272 yet, that may be the problem

Does anyone know of any good programs that can be used to boost the audio of a movie, for AVI encoding? The AVI's that I'm making are very soft at max volume.

ummm... is it just me or is PSPUpdates BREAKING copyright laws? The author states that it should not be uploaded to any other site than the one it was found on... therefor pspu should be linking to that site and not hosting it here.

You can raise the volume with virtualdub.

VirtualDub norm or VirtualDubMod? Where would it be in the program, I've been looking for it... maybe I'm just blind.

edit: got the normal version and found that the Mod version I have doesn't have an Audio menu, thanks for the suggestion, Striker.
