PacManFan worked hard on his emu. This thread is dishonoring his work.

I would rather have an hembrew psone emulator than an official one for the reason that has already been mentioned, paying for games you already have again (i don't care if there is not enough buttons on the psp for psone emulation).

I agree, there is not way sony will just let you rip your own ps1 games onto your psp. I bet sony will make you pay $10-20 to download games (even if you already own them). I am still interested to see how sony plans to make these games small enough to download onto your memory stick. Only time will tell I guess.

Well I like the fact that the homebrew version will be free, but will it work on my 2.6 and if so how long will it take. Also will it be as stable as Sony's. Don't get me wrong I am happy with what PacManFan has done. But his may not work on all psp firmwares or may not run at the best performance at least maybe for a while. We kinda need to wait and see the details on the Sony version before we know which route to go.

I think there is still need for the hombrew emulator, remember, some people won't want to upgrade, so with this 1.0/1.5 users will also have a ps1 emulator.

possibly compressing the sound files, we now have mnore methods of compressing sond than when ps1 was about. there is also the possibility that they will only put gen 1 ps1 games up. ie. the 2d ones

What good 2D games were there? Tarzan? Who wants to play Tarzan?
The only games I would even consider buying are Resident Evil or Crash Bandicoot, but I won't upgrade, you can bet your ass that Sony will find a way to block the eLoader, the killjoys that they are.

Once all images (backgrounds, sprites etc) are scaled, and in game movies are re-encoded in more up to date formats (DivX any1?) that will help the size.

I think it want be that easy as Sony will probably have some sort of checker, like a MAC address checker so the games will only work if there on the PSP they where origanily downloaded to

and I bet the only way your be able to download the games is with your PSP attached to your PC or a direct download to your PSP

I guarantee you they will find some way to make this impossible. For example, if you have used Gametap It is just a fancy compilation of roms/emulators, but when you try to look at the files they are not in any form that you can figure out which file does what. I doubt copy/paste will work on them. It is also possible for them to have some address check built in to each game so it only works on your PSP. We will just have to wait and see how they do it :icon_smil
