Default Running homebrew from umd

I was thinking . It would be cool to run homebrew like a dax iso.( i have a few reasons to do this)
My first problem though is the eboot.bin. What is a bin compared to a pbp?
I don't think I should need to use the kxploit

But to get to my point. What I need to know it the file structure of a UMD that has more than one game. Like a demo umd. One with music, games, and movies.

I'm still waiting for my playstation demo umd from the mail. AND I CANT WAIT ANYMORE

There's no point since no one but Sony can write/burn UMDs.

And that's where the confusion comes from. Placing the words Homebrew and PSP ISOs in the same sentence causes a lot of confusion because they aren't related in any way.

There has to be a method of re writing to the UMD, even know its not a RW disk type.

I Think i know what you mean!
You want to COMPRESS Homebrew
with the dax iso. Then Use UMD Emu
to launch the compressed homebrew?
I Know that this is possible and can easily be done!
But heres where the piracy rules come in, so
i guess i cant help you.

EDIT:
Unless you mean Daxter and not the Dax iso compresser lol.

Umm... An UMD is exactly like a CD-R but in smaller format and has a bit more capacity. And you can't rewrite a CD-R can you? Unless you don't close it that is :icon_wink

No, I don't think anyone did.
He dosen't want to write homebrew onto a UMD. He was wondering if homebrew could be made in .iso form and loaded with the ISO loader.

OK, he wants to compress his homebrew into a DAX.ISO format then load it with a DAX ISO loader. Im guessing hes doing this to save space. Well i actuially got a Gameshare .PBP file to load from Fastloader before, so im sure its possible to do it with DAX ISO loader aswell.

Its an iso loader, that basically loads compressed ISOs. It creates more space on your memstick for more isos

This is actually a really good idea, but I think the mods would get kind of iffy because it is an ISO loader. But really i think this would save alot of space

thats what i'm thinking
what if we used the iso to load all your music/photos/games/movies just as a demo umd does

sure it takes a little longer and you have to press a little more buttons, but hey

That would sure clean up my Game menu.

I think it is a really good idea. Problem is, that daxISO loader doesn't seem to like sleep mode with me - If that was fixed in a later version, i'd definately like a way to put a few emulators into an ISO format.

Wouldn't it be possible to boot up your homebrew with a UMD?
Not burning on a UMD, but using the UMD to Fool the PSP.

GTA is there, yeah. A different way... Since Games use "Game mode"
Can't you create a program simular to a ISO loader?

Pop in a UMD, trick your PSP thinking that it's about to Boot up a game
then load the Homebrew. Since everyone can get a hold of a UMD...
Can't that be possible? Instead of running off a crash, or GTA saves.
I'm pretty sure that alot more will be possible through Game mode.

Hmm... Think of how fast you could send homebrew to the PSP... Take supertux for an example, if it would be in one container it would move really fast onto the memorystick now it takes ages...

Also I think the memorystick can't use the full capacity of the memorystick when it has lots of small files, this causes the memorystick to use more memory than what you in fact put on to it...

So with a compressed image of the homebrew (folder), I think we could save abit of memory (and uploading times). The only question is wherter to use one homebrew for each compression or to use the whole game folder (sort of)...

If a great shell (like IRshell) would to offer this I think it would get really popular...

Great Idea though it has been thought of before...

Hmm, I think the topic of this thread should be changed for clearification...
OK, I think the plan is to use compressed homebrew folder(s) and let it launch the compressed file structure (or a whole GAME folder)...
Think of it... Supertux is ~16mb, but on the memorystick because the use of som many small files ~32mb... With compression it could be ~8mb...

I have alot of homebrew on my PSP ~220mb in real size, but on the memorystick bacaouse of blocksizes etc it's ~320mb... That extra space the memorystick uses is almost a full mp3 album, or an episode of Family Guy...

This is not a bad idea at all... It would be an perfect addition to 2.+ homebrew loaders and shells...

Red face Not that easy

if you can decipher the UMD specs, it may be possible..
