Question Sony PSP with Firmware v1.00

I am able to purchase a JP PSP with firmware v1.00 from a friend but was wondering whether it would be worth it as I remember reading that the early models of the PSP have problems with the [] button and ejecting UMDs or would it be better for me to wait for the European version when its released on 1st September and wait for a homebrew solution?

I don't have a PSP at the moment.

Also is it true that JP PSPs have a Sharp screen whereas the US PSPs have a Samsung screen which is inferior?

As far as I know, Samsung only supply the ram and some other components for the PSP to Sony but not the screen or am I wrong?

i would tell you to get the jap psp because it would alow you to play homebrew right away, but your right there might be problems with it so the choice is yours

So will the current loaders for games like Lumines, Puzzle Bobble and Coded Arms work on a 1.00 PSP and what about the upcoming WAB Loader, is that going to be compatible with the early PSP firmware too?

I bought mine 2 weeks ago and I was afraid of all the complaints mentioned. But my psp has been perfect so far. No dead pixels, no dust under the screen, no problem with the [] button or the eject. Althoght I noticed that the [] button is placed as far to the right as possible (dont know if the jap psp is like that), that you can actualy see a little bit of the internals below the [] button. Maybe this was a small redesign to solve the problems with that button?

Now Im hearing that some psps bought this weeks have 1.51. So, if you can get a recently shipped psp with 1.5 still in it, then buy that one. Of course, the problem is knowing if it comes with 1.5.
