I am able to purchase a JP PSP with firmware v1.00 from a friend but was wondering whether it would be worth it as I remember reading that the early models of the PSP have problems with the [] button and ejecting UMDs or would it be better for me to wait for the European version when its released on 1st September and wait for a homebrew solution?
I don't have a PSP at the moment. Also is it true that JP PSPs have a Sharp screen whereas the US PSPs have a Samsung screen which is inferior? As far as I know, Samsung only supply the ram and some other components for the PSP to Sony but not the screen or am I wrong? |

I bought mine 2 weeks ago and I was afraid of all the complaints mentioned. But my psp has been perfect so far. No dead pixels, no dust under the screen, no problem with the [] button or the eject. Althoght I noticed that the [] button is placed as far to the right as possible (dont know if the jap psp is like that), that you can actualy see a little bit of the internals below the [] button. Maybe this was a small redesign to solve the problems with that button?
Now Im hearing that some psps bought this weeks have 1.51. So, if you can get a recently shipped psp with 1.5 still in it, then buy that one. Of course, the problem is knowing if it comes with 1.5. |
