Yeah Sony Remote works - And you can actually see the IR LED glowing red.

I have a UK 2.01 PSP, when I run IR Commander it loads fine, but when I press the buttons the IR LED does NOT light up.

This would lead me to believe that it is not working.

Any n00b that says that it is working simply because it loads is a... well, a n00b. Ask them for a vid to prove it.

the wifi green led doesnt even go on..that means it wnt send signals...

Wifi has nothing to do with this. It's the IrDa port on top of your psp wich needs to be activated. For me, it isn't working either. I'm guessing we'll have to wait until someone makes a Eloader compatible app to run ircodes. meanwhile we all should keep trying. There might be some kind of trick to it.

no the ircommander doesnt work, does not send siganls. the problem is the actual ir commander. and a new version of ir shell has just come out, previous versions wouldnt load in eloader so i am going to try this version and see fi ti works
edit: no ir shell doesn't work it does exactly the same; it goes staright back to the eloader

Can someone send a step by step method on how to install the Sony Remote on my psp.

iR Commander will not work with fw 2.0 & above. This is not fixable, unless someone crack 2.0 & above to allow kernel access. I'll quote a reply I made in my forum regarding the IR issue.

PSP has build-in support for IRDA & SIRCS. IRDA is IR data communication for PPC, Palm & Notebooks (not for IR remotes); while SIRCS is IR remotes for Sony speciifc brand only. When I say built-in support, it means with an appropriate homebrew program written, any versions of PSP firmware can use them without the need of kernel access. That's why you can only use Sony remotes on firmware 2.6, 'cos PSP supports Sony remote via SIRCS.

Now, to get other non-Sony remotes to work, we'll have to hack into the kernel and do all the hard work on our own. That includes low level I/O port access, hardware interrupts, etc. We just can't use SIRCS support as it's only designed for Sony remotes. The problem for 2.0 fw and above is we can't have kernel access.

The solutions:
1) Wait for someone to hack 2.0 & above firmware to have kernel access for homebrew.
2) Trade your 2.x PSP with a 1.5 PSP.
3) Give up using a 2.0 & above PSP to control non-Sony brands.

PS. Dont say that you got ir com working on 2.01+ because somewhatnoob will be flaming like you like michael jackson and macauly caulkin (idn how to spell it)
