Default Custom Icon and Background Tutorial

Creating Custom Eboot Launcher For Homebrew Apps And Emulators
Created by F34R

We are going to start from the very beginning and work our way to the final eboot file.

Programs I used: PBPUnpacker, PSP Brew.
Rules to use:
Icons have to be 144 x 80 and saved as ICON0.PNG
Backgrounds should be 480 x 272 and saved as PIC1.PNG

First we are going to unzip our emulator into a folder of our choosing.

Next, double click the eboot.pbp file, and it will open up automatically with PSP Brew

On the right side, you’ll notice a green button that reads, “Save PBP”. Go ahead and click on it. We are now done with PSP Brew, and can close it out. ** Notice the directory that its saving in: it states c: and the folder is uo_snes9x. This means the files are going to be in C:/PSP/GAME/uo_Snes9x this is important to remember.

Ok, on to the next step.

Next we want to open PBPUnpacker, and click on the OPEN icon...
... now navigate to C:/PSP/GAME/uo_snes9x% ( this is where PSP Brew saved the files ), and choose the eboot.pbp ... now you'll see this:

Now lets right-click on the PARAM.SFO file and choose EXTRACT. Save this to a folder of your choosing, and again, remember where it is lol...

Next, click on the NEW icon in PBPUnpacker. Lets fill in those files now... we are almost there.

Refer to the following pic if you need to, when filling in your files:

PARAM.SFO = the param.sfo file we just saved
ICON0.PNG = our custom icon we already have ready
PIC1.PNG = our custom background we already have ready
** PIC0.PNG = transparent image that goes OVER your custom background
** SND0.AT3 = custom sound that you CAN include with your eboot file that we just made

Ok, after you have filled in your files, we can click on the SAVE icon. Again, this proggy wants to know where to save this to... its your choice. Either put it into your /PSP/GAME/emufolderwith%/ OR save it on your computer and transfer it manually. Either way works.

After you have your newly created eboot.pbp in your emu's % folder, you can navigate to it, and look at your masterpiece !

I hope this was easy to follow. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, feel free to post them or PM me...

Lightbulb EBOOT Maker

Is there a application for Mac to make custom eboots. All I read is for
Windows. If not maybe one of the tech savy members can make one... :wall:

Didn't really need a guide for this stuff, but thanks, hopefully we will have less users post on how to do this now. I have one request, could you make a step-by-step guide with numbers (users seem to like that).
