Okay, to start off with, this is your basic, general hip-hop beat. Notice
the slow tempo, 88 BPM and the huge empty space at the end of the
bar, where the rhyming parts of each line go:

Finally, the most bare-bones hip-hop beat ever? Try adding some other sounds to this, because if you take any of those 5 hits away, you won't have a beat anymore! Try to memorize where these hits take place, too, so you can recreate this beat quickly on the fly when you need to. BTW, sometimes you can swap hits out. E.g. change one of the snares into a kick and vice versa.
