Default Pvnc Check List / GUIDE

-- Last edited by verb0s : 4/7/2005 at 2:01 PM.--

PVNC - http://files.pspupdates.com/cgi-bin/...0,1,2,0,32,647

VIdeo of PVNC in action ( http://www.clanwm.com/psp/psp2.rar )
PSP Browser for PVNC ( http://rapidshare.de/files/2854699/P...owser.zip.html ) - Good Work Salaman

Need ::

Wireless Router
VNC Server Service running a Computer

Confirmed VNC Servers that work with Pvnc::
---------------------------------
realvnc
tightvnc
palmvnc-ultravnc http://palmvnc2.free.fr
redstone vnc
-------------------------------------

WINSERVER / LINUX SERVER( My choice :: http://www.realvnc.com )

MAC SERVER (http://www.redstonesoftware.com/vnc.html --thx for the link GrandPoobah)

How to run the VNC Client and Server for the PSP:

Once you download and install the realvnc client on the computer, go to configuration click on "No Authentication", go to legacy settings check "Use 3.3 version protocols". Next turn on your PSP go to infrastructure mode go through choose manaul mode, you want to set up a static ip address. Once you do this and test the connection. Start the VNC psp program, put the ip address of the VNC server with a name etc. Connect to it, and poof there you go your remote controlling your desktop through your psp. No luck yet with the mouse or keyboard though =) if anything post it

Post if you have figured out any other VNC Server programs that work with the PVNC (Real,tight,Ultra)

* In tightvnc just go double click on the tightvnc icon, check accept socket connections erase whatever is in the password box, then go to advance and and uncheck "Disable empty passwords", and check
"allow option to accept without authentication" and push apply and ok on both windows

* For maximum performance change your computers resolution to 640x480 and try to only be running vnc

---------------

In more detail how to setup a static ip for the PSP::

1.1 - Go into “Infrastructure Mode”

1.2 - Select a connection to edit. If you already have a wireless connection set up, select it from the list. Skip over entering the Connection Name, skip over the WLAN settings if you already have those set up.

1.3 - In “Address Settings” click down to “Custom”, change to “IP Address Setting” Manual.

once your at the menu where you insert your ip, you just put you local ip information etc....

for example:::

you have to find out what subnet range your wirless router is sending for example my default gateway is

192.168.0.1

and the subnet
255.255.255.0

so in the static ip settings i told the psp that its ip is

192.168.0.22 ( find out what the ip of your desktop is then just change the the last .xyz numbers and set that as your static ip for your psp, also make sure no other computer on your lan or wan has that ip address already because then you will have ip conflicts.)

DNS : 192.168.0.1

Subnet:255.255.255.0
'

Pvnc is currently only fully functional in :: LINUX, but still very slow(From what i have tested)

TO bring up the keyboard hold triangle for about 1-3 seconds .. to move from key to key you have to hold the button down for about 1-3 seconds

***Excuse me for my bad english

To set up manual IP settings, use the same settings as your pc, except change the ip to a unique IP for your network.... to view these settings, goto
Start>Programs>Accessorie s>Cammand prompt

then type in ipconfig /all

this brings up all your current settings, your dns, your subnet, etc etc, just use those settings in the manual mode, EXCEPT for the IP, which you just need to change the last 3 digits to something unique in your network.

Thanks verb0s for the help, and btw your english is fine, lol

check it out. goto start > run > type cmd.exe then click run. then type ipconfig /all. copy whats there. it'll tell you your default gateway, which is your router. now for your IP, look @ the one it tells you, but change the last 3 #'s. so if it says your IP is 192.168.0.104, change it to something like 192.168.0.255

hover over the realvnc icon in your system tray. that gives you the IP of your VNC Host.

if it says "connecting " just restart the psp.

it can be one of 2 things either the psp wifi timed out or you have a firewall which you need to disable.

as far with realvnc being view only, this is partially true i have yet to see any one figure out what the controls are, this program was probably pre realesed. Due to the fact that people were mocking that it was fake and the developers wanted to realese a early version to prove that its not fake

cough * port fowarding cough *** in the router settings

DISCLAIMER:::: this is very dangerous due to the fact that you have no authentication to your VNC server and any one can control it, which may lead to damage and loss of files on your computer..

if you want to connect to your desktop from outside your network, i would wait to the next version of pvnc which hopefully will have authentication
