for some reason devs never took to gba emulation, not sure why they were initially developed as proff of concept etc. and too show it can be done then no one followed them up.

Given the about of pressure that Homer got about working on the GBA I would suspect that any dev interested would keep it to themselfs until finished...

Saying "i'am going to work on a GBA emulator" is a sure fire way to get your message box filled with requests and people being stroppy if it isnt done yet.

A near perfect GBA emulator would be one of the final pieces in anyones emu collection.

Theres also the piracy issue though seeing as the GBA is still an on-going system.

It would be excellent to have a well running GBA emulator. Nobody worries about piracy anyway. Which is why we have mod chips.

Well it's a start.

Did this project just die completely, or has someone been working on it?
Haven't heard it even mentioned for a long time.

or did it stop for legal reasons?

I wouldnt mind seeing a faster GBA emu but im not a dev and I have seen how difficult it is to code all this stuff so we will have to hope someone decides to take it up. Homer said he (yes its a he (again)) may take it up. I just downloaded rin 3.2 the other day and I looked at the emulator options and one was GBA. Does anybody know what this is for?

It means it will display the game like it would if you were playing it on a GBA.

I really don`t blame anyone for not taking up the GBA emu. I looked at the source code and thought I was reading a different language. Sure I know how to program, but only the basics. This was just 10 files of jibberish, so anyone who even attempts to take a crack at it has kudos from me

I'm thinking about starting it back up. Alot of people seem to be wanting an atleast functional GBA emulator with decent speed. I'll see what I can do, but I'm not promising anything.

There are two types of developers:

Those that promise everything and deliver nothing.

Those that promise nothing and deliver everything.

Also, isn't this more of a "stealth request" for something to be made, which goes against the forum rules?

Actually the best way to have a correct GBA emulator would to use the Media Engine implements such as the ones in Snes9xTYLME (the sources remain unreleased as we speak but they will be as soon as snes9xtyl 0.4 get release) but as we speak we curently know no way to do so except by the use of kernel mode.
So it would only be fast in 1.00/1.50

I don't want to spend my time working on a gba emulator tough, so someone else will have to do it

Yes I agree with iBall that this is basically a request. Also, hasn't the GBA 1.1 source been out for a while now?
