catch 22 for homebrew
I am a fan of homebrew I agree with the statment that is made about homebrew not hurting psp game sales. But in recent weeks I have been seeing game's that people play on homebrew (outrun, megaman, ect). And those companies have taken notice and started releasing them on psp. Now for the catch 22 those new games have a higher firmware so the people that love their homebrew on 1.5 and 2.0 wont upgrade. So now there is a conflict with homebrew and psp games not that it would be a conflict if those umd games ran on 1.5 or 2.0 because i would love to play the new outrun game. But I guess I will have to wait till i get another psp with a higher firmware. Because I'm not going to upgrade my 2.0 maybe downgrade not sure yet?

Retro games have allways been given makeovers for new systems etc (Pong on the PS2 anyone).
As to if these releases have an ulterior motive (i.e - to sucker us in to upgrading), i'm not so sure.
its allways going to happen, in any media form.
Old games get remade, old movies get remade - Its just the way of things.
I'm sure Sony would be rather happy if people DID upgrade in order to play these games (and use the sytem as they intended - lol). But i doubt if this was the driving force behind getting these games released.
Anyone play the dreadful remake of Space Invaders on the PS2? Well, they called it a 'sequel' but it was just painful to play. I forget the name, Alien Invasion I think. As for new games, there is a way to get most of them to work- it is a 3-letter word forbidden in these parts. You can always use an ***
