Arrow Why arent there any umd video loaders?

Title says it all, why arent there programs that let you override the region lock on umd video's or let you play it without upgrading? like there should be an MPH Video Loader or something, or arent the umd videos hackable?

Use UMD Emulator. It has a bunch of options and one of them involves getting past the region lock on UMD movies.

Just get a bigger memory stick and a PMP player. No one bothers with UMD video because it sucks

Was working on one...
But was way too much time consuming!
I will try and continue the project soon,
but at the moment i have other things in
which i wan't to do.

For all i know the region code could be
enrypted into the UMD!
but at the moment i am taking
wild guess's...

Hmmm....I thought it was widely known the region coding is built-in to the UMD drive?

If it is built into the "UMD Drive", then that means
there is a chance of the UMD region code built into
the UMD itself. The UMD could be encrypted with the
region code though. It's quite confusing when you
don't have a clue where to start.

In other word's, there is a slight chance of anyone
actually coding a UMD region free program.

There is a new security since 1.52 fw preventing older firmwares to access the "STREAMS" folder in the UMD Video/Music containing the *.mps files which contains both the soundtrack and the video.

You can still dump those file using filassistant on 2.00, but you cannot play those from 1.50 using the UMD directly.
Some kernel patching must be involved so it can happen, but due to the lack for everyone about using UMD Videos I doubt that it will happen someday.

So I've heard, but the more I look at it I have a harder time believing there is a microcontroller in it at all.
http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/...059401,8059402

I think there is a seperate mcu for this sort of thing, but not in the UMD drive itself.
One day soon I will be sure.

I have checked the decomplied version of umd emulators source code and I think it couldn't be that hard to make your own app with that function (too bad I don't got any umd videos to test with...).

Unhappy .

It really shouldn't be that hard deeing that iso's are overrided too, loaded as system menu making use of the iso (UMD) info, this should be able for a UMD Video too. If I could only code... I'd really LOVE if someone would back such an app since I have an Asian PSP (I was told it was japanese) and I live in Europe, there are seriously almost no interesting movies that are region 3. And only Sony Pictures videos are regionfree...

The easiest app to edit for this is probably DAX ZISO Loader...

PLEASE MAKE THIS APP, ALL KUDO'S TO THE ONE THAT MAKES THIS APP!!!

Oh and SodR, I'll buy a R2 Movie and beta test it for you!

What? do you even know what DAX ZISO is for? It allows you to play compressed ISO's using other ISO loaders. So i gues if you wanted to make ISO's of Video UMD's and compress them then DAX ZISO might be something to look at editing...

Of course I know what DAX ZISO Loader is for, but you do have a run UMD function with different loading types and regioncode override. Anyway, I may have found a way to load these thing, I'll let you know if it's anything...

He simply included the UMD Emulator core in the program. It uses UMD Emulator to load the ISO.

Yeah, if the region code function was working properly (in the UMD Emulator core), DAX ZISO would be able to clear the region code from RAM, as it can run UMDs as well (in this mode, it runs the core without mounting the ISO file).

However, it doesn't work, and Humma says it may not be the only check, so more research is needed.

To quote Humma's core source code notations:
Quote:
# videoregion
# ----------
# region code for videos. Very confusing, and seems not to be the only check ...
# (on US PSP)
# - 0x01 : JAP
# - 0x02 : US
# - 0x04 : EUR
# - 0x08 : multiple (how to handle ?)
# - 0x0f : all (e.g. TripleX eur on US PSP [no regioncode at all])
#

I remember you working on this. We still don't know much... Did you still need people to send in any more info from international UMDs?

It's not Sony's doing. It's the movie studios decisions.
They wanted region coding on UMDs, just like DVDs.
