I wanna know if since the Eloader will be in UPDATE mode, can the Eloader run Unsigned/modified Update Eboots? I know some commands will have to be altered, added, removed and whatnot, but will an Update Eboot actually RUN?

I heard it frees up more RAM. More complex games might be possible now.

I've given up hope for a downgrader but, if Fanjita or someone else plays their cards right, this might make more freedom for the Eloader.

As of now, I dont believe so, as it still hasnt provided flash access

Could you explain as to why not having Flash0 access would stop an Update EBOOT from simply starting? Maybe you missunderstood my question, put simply, will an update eboot run, will it open? I'm not interested in whether it will actually do anything as of now, but will it open to it's Start Menu?

If you understood me completely and your reply was infact toward this question, then apologies.

It would probably start it up but it couldn't downgrade because it would make a notice saying it doesn't need to be upgraded and an unsigned modified upgrader wouldn't work.

I see, all i wanted to know is if it would start or not. Since you've gone into detail i have to ask; Why wouldn't an unsigned Update work just as much as a signed Update does? It would be the Eloader that was running and processing it all, the Eloader runs unsigned Eboots as it is...?

An upgrader requires flash access, which the Eloader lacks. Fact is: The PSP will reject any unsigned Eboot and the Eloader can't use flash requiring devices (Upgrader)

Oh i see, well forgive my misunderstanding. It was because i thought that Flash access was dependant on what mode the psp was in, and not if the program loaded during that mode was signed or not.

Only signed eboots can use flash on firmwares 2.01 and up. Plain and simple. The Eloader can only load unsigned Eboots that don't require flash access. Understand?

Yes, i understand completely. Except, the Eloader can run Eboots that require flash access? They're just not capable of the flash functions needed. Also, it was under my impression that the reason programs cannot access flash in Eloader at the minute, is because Eloader runs in Game mode, and in Game mode there is no flash access. Which is why i assumed it was dependant on what Mode the program was in in-order to gain flash access. Isn't there proof of this in the updater mode topic in the dev dungeon? I think freeplay did some writing to flash tests in updater mode, it wasn't successful, but you can see why over this time i assumed that it was all dependant on what Mode the program was in.

Could you, or someone just completely clarify this for me. Obviously i don't want to have false information.

What i have from this is that you need 2 things both at the same time, in-order for flash "access":

1. The program must be Signed.
2. You must be in a Flash capable PSP Mode.

Is this correct?

Update mode normally allows a certain level of flash access but 2.5 and 2.6 strong security blocks it out. There's a slim chance that 2.01 might get a downgrader but 2.5 and up is pretty much hopeless.

*Could you stop adding needless details that i'm already aware of, i'm not an idiot you know.

You didn't clarify what i wanted but ok...
i know about the added security for 2.6, although for 2.5 is anyone 100% certain now that "new" security was added. I know that there has been alot of confusion with it.

...but basically, i was right all along, and you just thought i was a retard that had no idea what has flash access and what doesn't? Put simply, flash access is dependant on what mode it is in, and if one has accomplished flash access in that mode, the program will run fine. Also, before you reply to the end of this with something such as "Yes, but unsigned eboots don't have flash access". I know the complications already, i said "put simply".

Sorry but, your posts just seem to be underminding. You act as if i know nothing, when all i require are simple answers, but you add unnecessary things such as "There's a slim chance that 2.01 might get a downgrader but 2.5 and up is pretty much hopeless" and "understand?" - Of course i understand, and in your last post you've just proven me right and that you've been needlessly blabbering on about CRAP..

Update mode is exactly the same on 2.01 as it is on 2.5 and 2.6 via the GTA method. It also allows just as much flash access to 2.01 as it does to 2.5 and 2.6: no flash0 write.
