Default Monkey64 Source Released

For those who havent seen the news, the source code for Monkey64 has been released. You can read more on the front page, but here is the article taken from the front page:

Quote:
PSMonkey has just released the source code for his N64 emulator. Hopefully this will help devs move one stop closer to getting a fully working N64 emulator on the PSP, but it seems as if PSMonkey released this just to disprove naysayers of his operation. After several accusations declaring that PSMonkey stole work from other devs, it seems as if the poor guy has been harassed lately. PSMonkey had this to say:

Ok, I ment to post this sooner but was holding off so I can clean up the commenting. Since some people are so hell bent on proving daedalus did everything or I just fully stole every line of code from pj64, I desided to just post anways and if they need suport they can go **** them selfs.

Anyways here is the source. If any coders need serious suport or have questions. Feel free to contact me via PMs or on my forums.

As you can see, he isn't too happy with what people have been saying, and if this isn't proof enough to shut people up then it doesn't look like anything will. Nonetheless, it'll be nice to see some real developers try to make the best of this source code.
Here's the Source

Now we need more devs to get started on this to help create one awesome N64 emu!

You realize that he's only doing this because of the poor modding in the comments part of news. Its gotten really bad. All this first post spam and flame **** needs to stop.

I agree, but the only way to stop it would be to remove comments althogther.

The best idea I can come up with is that ONLY forum members can post comments and if they flame or spam, they get banned either temp or perm. Its the onyl way that can help the comments. having mods specifically for comments woudl be a good idea also, I wodultn mind going in there and deleteing spam posts if we had the regulations like I said above, as of now, NOBODY wants to bother with those comments!

Im glad monkey released his source to stick it to the noobies, but thye still wont know anything since they wont knwo what to do with the files or anything

I think that it is a bit besides the point on the reason why he reased it. Plus it says right on the front page as to his reasoning. But, we all do know it is out, and i would say all (well not all i guess, cant devote all attention to this ) but at least a good number of devs should take a portion of the code, and optomize it to their best ability, all using the same language or course, or post ideas on how to make it just that much better. If i knew how to program, believe me i would use the most of my spare time developing this emulator, along with the GBA emu. I really would like to stop bringin my gba around just for Kingdom Hearts.

It's damn disgusting that people who cannot write even a Hello World application have the cheek to dis PSMonkey for the excellent work that he has done. Note that I don't mean anyone above this post,
I've seen so many ignorant posts in the threads on Monkey64, that I'm suprised that PSMonkey even bothered to continue with his work.

Seriously, the emulator is impressive. Sure it isnt great yet, but it is definately a great start, and proves all those who said it was impossible wrong. I respect him, and I feel that it was a good idea for him to release his source. Now he can prove all the haters wrong, and others can continue to improve on the emulator.

I wanna figure out why Virtual Pool 64 won't run on it (or Daedelus)....

Monkey 64 is incredible because he coded it from scratch. Now, i dont know how much more knowlage of coding he has over others on this forum, but im sure there is some amount. I also wanted to ask something, my friends neighbor (never met) but my friend tells me he works for sony, he also said that he played his psp, and it had a working (pretty much fullspeed) n64 emu, and he was sayin how he was playin banjo kazooie. Here is the thing, i WANT to believe him, but that just sounds like complete BS. Now i dunno how sony-strung this guy is, but if he isnt all that true to sony, maybe we can get our hands on that signature? I have yet to meet him and really cannot wait for it. suppossedly he gave my friend a copy of KH2 a week in advance so we shall see, anyone have any ideas (for when i do get the chance to meet him) how i might persuade him into giving me the key (again this is all knowlage based on what my friend said.) thanks for reading

No one from Sony has a good N64 emulator. I hate to tell you, but your friend is lying to you. Also no one from Sony is going to give out the key.

Luckily us few intelligent people still don't really care about all this "internet drama".
