Default MSX v1.4 trying to play Metal Gear 2

what is with the button configuration i cant get the buttons assigned correctly like when i try to assign buttons it has options like a keyboard would. The emulator works fine but circle triangle and square and x dont do anything. I use 2.01 firmware with the Eloader

The reason for this is because the MSX was basically a computer. Anyway, you can look up a walkthrough for MG2 and it should give you the button layout. I think it uses mainly things like F1,F2,F3, etc. Try changing Square to F1 and you'll see what I mean. Then just get a walthrough and switch the keys to what you need accordingly.

It's a bit confusing, but if you take it a step at a time, you'll get it working. :3

Default What emulator R u using

i have always wanted 2 play metal gear 2 on my psp

can u plz tell me wat emulator u have been using. zx81 emulator works on mine but cant get metal gear 2 working ,only 1942 works

I would remember the buttons for metal gear 2 would be
M/N-Punch
Space and M or N (i forgot)-Crawl
F1-pause
F2-Item menu
F3-Weopen menu
F4-Radio Transceiver
F5-Save/load
Space-Fire a weopen

it was sumthing like that dont remember it was like a year ago when i last played the game using fMSX emulator(dos)
if ur emulator supports kbd files try editing that. zx81's MSX emulator tells how u can assign keys for it.

Here's the keyboard I use for MG and MG2.

L: Trans
R: Pause
Square: fire
X: Punch
Tri: Weps select
Cir: Items select
X + Square: Duck-crawl

Just go down to keyboards and select and then go to laod keyboard and select the keyboard file I uploaded.

Also, here is a link to the emulator i'm using:

Once you've played the real thing it's hard to play a emulated MSX game. Well Vampire Killers anywhy. Metal Gears ain't to bad.

Anyone find decent settings for MG1 and Vampire Killers?

i really like the keyboard i setup:

up:up, down:down, left:left, right:right;
X:F3 (change items), []:F4 (radio), |>:F1 (Pause), O:F2 (change weapons);
L:m (punch), R:SPACE (use weapon);
JoyU:F5, JoyD:RETURN, JoyL:SHIFT, JoyR:ESC

When playing MG2, it is easy to push L & R to crawl, and its just feels natural to use the Rtrigger to shoot. hope this helps.

let me know if u want it uploaded somewhere else

Does anyone have a keyboard configuration for SD Snatcher?

I wish MSX was a little easier to use (in regards to the controls). There should be an option to plug in a virtual joystick into the emulator that maps the buttons to the psp's buttons.
